Los Angeles, im April 1992. Zwei Männer überfallen mitten am Tag ein koreanisches Geschäft und töten dabei kaltblütig vier Menschen. Der Fall wird Sergeant Eldon Perry (Kurt Russell) und seinem jungen Partner Bobby Keough (Scott Speedman) übertragen. Perry ist Ermittler bei einer Elite-Einheit der Polizei von L.A. und bekannt für seine harten Methoden und sein aufbrausendes Temperament. 'Dark Blue - Die Farbe der Korruption' (2002) ist ein gleichermaßen spannend inszenierter wie brisanter Thriller über die alltägliche Grauzone bei der Polizeiarbeit. Eldon Perry, ein desillusionierter Veteran des 'Los Angeles Police Department', der Fälle nach eigener Moral schon mal mit der Waffe abschließt und einverständlich von Kollegen und Vorgesetzten gedeckt wird, bis sein junger Partner an dem Druck zerbricht. Die Brisanz von 'Dark Blue' entfaltet sich vor dem Hintergrund des Rodney King Prozesses, bei dem 1992 vier Cops vom Vorwurf der Körperverletzung im Dienst frei gesprochen wurden. Das Urteil löste in der ohnehin brodelnden Metropole Los Angeles die schwersten Rassenunruhen seit Jahrzehnten aus. In weiteren Hauptrollen sind Ving Rhames (aus 'Pulp Fiction'), Brendan Gleeson ('Der General') und der kanadische Newcomer Scott Speedman ('My Life Without Me') zu sehen, in Nebenrollen wurden außerdem die beiden populären Rapper Kurupt und Master P besetzt.

The verdict triggered the most serious racial unrest in decades in the already seething metropolis of Los Angeles. Other leading roles are played by Ving Rhames (from 'Pulp Fiction'), Brendan Gleeson ('The General') and Canadian newcomer Scott Speedman ('My Life Without Me'), and the two popular rappers Kurupt and Master P were also cast in supporting roles.
