Oscar-Gewinner Robert Zemeckis (siehe u.a. 'Zurück in die Zukunft' 1985 und 'Forrest Gump' 1994) gelang ein spannungsgeladener Psychothriller, der nicht zuletzt dank der schauspielerischen Leistungen von Michelle Pfeiffer und Harrison Ford neben Miranda Otto als Mary Feur, James Remar als Warren Feur und Victoria Bidewell als Beatrice als kleines Meisterwerk seines Genres gilt.

'What Lies Beneath - Shadows of Truth' (2000), this film will tug at your nerves and after watching it, you will look at your bathtub with different eyes. Oscar winner Robert Zemeckis (see 'Back to the Future' in 1985 and 'Forrest Gump' in 1994, among others) succeeded in creating a suspenseful psychological thriller that is considered a small masterpiece of its genre, not least thanks to the acting performances of Michelle Pfeiffer and Harrison Ford alongside Miranda Otto as Mary Feur, James Remar as Warren Feur and Victoria Bidewell as Beatrice.
