Ratso (gesprochen von Rick Kavanian), eine Stadtratte mit Ambitionen im Showbusiness und ein gerissener Gauner, landet auf der Flucht vor einer Rattenbande in einem Entengehege. Dort wird er von den gefiederten Bewohnern mit einem Ei ertappt und als Eierdieb verdächtigt – das schwerste Verbrechen in diesen Kreisen. Da hilft nur, dass er sich zum Vater des Eies erklärt und das daraus schlüpfende Entlein Ugly (gesprochen von Wilson Gonzalez Ochsenknecht) zu seinem Sohn. „Das ist das hässlichste Entlein, das ich je gesehen habe“, gackert ein Huhn, und Ratso schaltet schnell: Aus so viel Hässlichkeit muss er einfach eine Jahrmarktsattraktion machen! Ratso und Ugly machen sich auf die gefahrvolle Reise zum Jahrmarkt, immer verfolgt von der Rattenbande, bedroht von Füchsen im Wald und Raubfischen in eisigen Flüssen. Schließlich erreichen sie den Jahrmarkt, wo neue Feinde und Freunde auf sie warten. Die Rattenbande scheint über unsere Helden zu triumphieren, doch im letzten Moment wendet sich das Blatt: Ratzo, der Vater wider Willen, entwickelt echte Elternqualitäten und Ugly wird zum Held

Ratso (voiced by Rick Kavanian), a city rat with ambitions in show business and a cunning crook, ends up in a duck enclosure while fleeing from a gang of rats. There he is caught with an egg by the feathered inhabitants and suspected of being an egg thief – the most serious crime in these circles. The only thing that helps is that he declares himself the father of the egg and the hatching duckling Ugly (voiced by Wilson Gonzalez Ochsenknecht) is his son. "That's the ugliest duckling I've ever seen," a chicken clucks, and Ratso quickly shifts gears: he simply has to turn so much ugliness into a fairground attraction! Ratso and Ugly set off on the perilous journey to the fair, always pursued by the gang of rats, threatened by foxes in the forest and predatory fish in icy rivers. Finally they reach the fair, where new enemies and friends are waiting for them. The gang of rats seems to triumph over our heroes, but at the last moment the tide turns: Ratzo, the father against his will, develops real parenting qualities and Ugly becomes a hero
