Eigentlich wollte Tripp (Patrick Dempsey) nur einen Hundertdollarschein bei der schönen Bankangestellten Kaitlin (Ashley Judd) in Münzen umtauschen, aber die 'Credit International Bank' wird just in diesem Moment von zwei unterschiedlichen Gangstergruppen überfallen. Während die beiden Rednecks Jelly (Pruitt Taylor Vince) und Peanut Butter (Tim Blake Nelson) lediglich das Geld aus den Geldautomaten wollen, haben es die hochprofessionell ausgestatteten Weinstein (John Ventimiglia), Gates (Matt Ryan) und Darrien (Mekhi Pfeifer) auf den Inhalt des Tresors der Bank abgesehen. Unglücklicherweise stehen sie sich erst einmal selbst im Weg und es kommt zu einem Schussduell, das nur durch den Einsatz von Tripp und dessen Frage, warum sie sich nicht auf ihre Ziele statt aufeinander konzentrieren, unterbrochen wird. So beschließen die beiden Bankräubergruppen, während alle Bankangestellten und Kunden als Geiseln genommen werden, jede für sich an das große Geld zu kommen. Die Hauptrollen in 'Flypaper - Wer überfällt hier wen?' sind mit Patrick Dempsey und Ashley Judd exzellent besetzt. Regisseur Rob Minkoff, der unter anderem mit Disneys 'König der Löwen' und 'Stuart Little 2' ein breites Publikum begeistern konnte, war es auch, der Patrick Dempsey für die Rolle des Tripp Kennedy verpflichtet hat. "Patrick war auf der Suche nach einer Gelegenheit, sein Dr. 'McDreamy' Shepherd Image aus 'Grey's Anatomy' ablegen zu können", so Minkoff. "Er sah das als große Herausforderung und während der gesamten Dreharbeiten waren sein kreativer Input und sein Ideenreichtum wirklich enorm groß." Ashley Judd, die als scheinbar harmlose Bankangestellte Kaitlin ein ums andere Mal für Überraschungen sorgt, hatte ebenfalls großen Spaß an ihrer Rolle: "Ich bin ein großer Fan der beiden Hangover-Filme, und auch hier hat mich das Drehbuch von Jon Lucas und Scott Moore wirklich begeistert."

Actually, Tripp (Patrick Dempsey) only wanted to exchange a hundred-dollar bill for coins at the beautiful bank employee Kaitlin (Ashley Judd), but the 'Credit International Bank' is attacked by two different gangster groups just at that moment. While the two rednecks Jelly (Pruitt Taylor Vince) and Peanut Butter (Tim Blake Nelson) only want the money out of the ATMs, the highly professionally equipped Weinstein (John Ventimiglia), Gates (Matt Ryan) and Darrien (Mekhi Pfeifer) are after the contents of the bank's vault. Unfortunately, they get in each other's way at first and a shooting duel ensues, which is only interrupted by Tripp's intervention and his question as to why they don't focus on their goals instead of each other. So the two bank robber groups, while all bank employees and customers are taken hostage, decide to get their hands on the big money individually. However, this is easier said than done, because none of them is really clever...
The leading roles in 'Flypaper' are excellently cast with Patrick Dempsey and Ashley Judd. Director Rob Minkoff, who was able to inspire a wide audience with Disney's 'The Lion King' and 'Stuart Little 2', among others, was also the one who signed Patrick Dempsey for the role of Tripp Kennedy. "Patrick was looking for an opportunity to shed his Dr. 'McDreamy' Shepherd image from 'Grey's Anatomy,'" Minkoff said. "He saw it as a big challenge and throughout the filming, his creative input and inventiveness was really enormous." Ashley Judd, who surprises time and again as the seemingly harmless bank employee Kaitlin, also had a lot of fun with her role: "I'm a big fan of the two Hangover movies, and again, the script by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore really thrilled me."
