Die beiden begegnen Josh und Cornelia mit einer Offenheit, die sie fasziniert und selbst wieder ein Stück jünger fühlen lässt. Immer mehr werfen sie die zur Gewohnheit gewordenen Spießigkeiten ihres Alters über Bord und schmeißen sich mitten hinein in das Leben von Jamie und Darby. Zur Verwunderung ihrer gleichaltrigen Freunde verjüngen sie plötzlich ihren Kleidungsstil, entdecken Hip Hop-Tanz für sich oder besuchen gemeinsam spirituelle Sitzungen. Zwar sind Josh und Cornelia selbst etwas überrascht von sich und ihrer Frischzellenkur, aber was soll's, man ist nur einmal wieder jung. Doch während die beiden Paare sich einander immer näher kommen, wird auch immer deutlicher, was sie voneinander trennt. Wäre Alter nur ein Gefühl, Josh und Cornelia wären wieder Mitte Zwanzig. Aber es ist eben mehr als das, und das Leben lässt sich nicht so einfach zurück drehen...
Mit seiner neuen, starbesetzten Tragikomödie 'Gefühlt Mitte Zwanzig' (2014) zeigt Regisseur Noah Baumbach einmal mehr, warum er als 'Woody Allen für eine neue Generation' gehandelt wird. Nachdem er in seinem vorherigen Film 'Frances Ha' (2012) die Twenty-Somethings porträtierte, wirft er mit 'Gefühlt Mitte Zwanzig' (2014) einen gewitzten Blick auf die Mitt-Vierziger. So geht Baumbach hier dem Lebensgefühl einer Generation nach, für die das Erwachsenwerden nur eine Option unter vielen ist, und die sich zwischen den unendlichen Möglichkeiten, die das Leben von heute bietet, kaum entscheiden kann. Hierfür konnte Noah Baumbach ein hochkarätiges und sichtlich gut gelauntes Darstellerensemble gewinnen. Als Josh ist Ben Stiller ('Das erstaunliche Leben des Walter Mitty') zu sehen, und als Cornelia kann Naomi Watts ('Birdman') ihr komödiantisches Talent unter Beweis stellen. Das junge hippe Paar Jamie und Darby spielen Amanda Seyfried ('Mamma Mia') und Adam Driver ('Inside Llewyn Davis'). Zudem ist 'Beastie Boy' Adam Horovitz in einem seiner seltenen Leinwandauftritte zu sehen. Den Score steuerte James Murphy von 'LCD Soundsystem' bei.

While all their friends have children, Josh (Ben Stiller) and Cornelia (Naomi Watts) enjoy the freedom that their togetherness allows them. They live in Brooklyn, are happy in their 40s, but somehow can't shake the feeling that real life is passing them by. When they meet Jamie (Adam Driver) and Darby (Amanda Seyfried), a young hipster couple in their mid-twenties, it's friendship at first sight. The two meet Josh and Cornelia with an openness that fascinates them and makes them feel a little younger themselves. More and more, they throw the habitual stuffiness of their age overboard and throw themselves into the middle of Jamie and Darby's life. To the amazement of their friends of the same age, they suddenly rejuvenate their clothing style, discover hip hop dance for themselves or attend spiritual sessions together. Josh and Cornelia themselves are a bit surprised by themselves and their rejuvenation, but what the heck, they are only young again. But as the two couples get closer and closer, it also becomes clearer and clearer what separates them from each other. If age were only a feeling, Josh and Cornelia would be in their mid-twenties again. But it's more than that, and life can't be turned back so easily...
With his new, star-studded tragicomedy 'Felt Mid-Twenties', director Noah Baumbach once again shows why he is being treated as 'Woody Allen for a new generation'. After portraying the twenty-somethings in his previous film 'Frances Ha' (2012), he takes a witty look at the mid-forties with 'Felt Mid-Twenties' (2014). In this way, Baumbach traces the attitude to life of a generation for which growing up is only one option among many, and which can hardly decide between the endless possibilities that life offers today. For this purpose, Noah Baumbach was able to win over a top-class and visibly good-humoured ensemble of actors. Ben Stiller ('The Amazing Life of Walter Mitty') can be seen as Josh, and Naomi Watts ('Birdman') can prove her comedic talent as Cornelia. The young hip couple Jamie and Darby are played by Amanda Seyfried ('Mamma Mia') and Adam Driver ('Inside Llewyn Davis'). In addition, 'Beastie Boy' Adam Horovitz can be seen in one of his rare screen appearances. The score was contributed by James Murphy of 'LCD Soundsystem'.
