(Samuel West) und seine Gemahlin Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Coleman) die USA mit einer geschichtsträchtigen Stippvisite. Und noch ein weiterer Gast weilt an diesem Wochenende auf dem Familienanwesen der Roosevelts: Margaret 'Daisy' Suckley (Laura Linney), eine entfernte Cousine des Präsidenten, mit der er eine Liebesaffäre unterhält. On a June weekend in 1939. The Great Economic Depression has only just been overcome, and the Second World War is imminent - US President Franklin D. And yet another guest is staying at the Roosevelts' family estate this weekend: Margaret 'Daisy' Suckley (Laura Linney), a distant cousin of the president, with whom he has a love affair. A stormy weekend with all kinds of secrecy, cramped picnics, political differences, hot dogs, British high-end snobbery and nocturnal escapades is brewing, which will far exceed the fears of all those involved and in the end bring the two nations closer together...
