Getrieben von schönen Erinnerungen an das Kennenlernen seiner geliebten Frau vor 40 Jahren, packt der sonst eher wenig spontane Londoner Geschäftsmann Andrew Blake (John Malkovich) seine Koffer und reist nach Frankreich ins 'Schloss Beauvillier'. Durch eine Verwechslung wird er von der Haushälterin Odile (Émilie Dequenne) für den neuen Butler gehalten und Blake spielt mit, um auf dem Schloss bleiben zu können. Ab sofort heißt es 'Monsieur Blake zu Diensten'. Der Alltag des Millionärs besteht plötzlich daraus, Zeitungen für die Hausherrin Nathalie Beauvillier (Fanny Ardant) zu bügeln, die uralten Standuhren mit Wattestäbchen zu polieren und vor allem: dem verwöhnten Kater 'Mephisto' jeden Wunsch von den Kulleraugen abzulesen. Mit seinem trockenen, englischen Humor bringt Blake Schwung in das marode Schloss und beginnt, richtig Lust an seinem neuen Leben zu finden. Jetzt muss er nur noch dafür sorgen, dass ihm niemand auf die Schliche kommt. Denn da ist auch der griesgrämige Gärtner Magnier (Philippe Bas), der Blake so gar nicht über den Weg traut...

Driven by fond memories of meeting his beloved wife 40 years ago, the otherwise rather unspontaneous London businessman Andrew Blake (John Malkovich) packs his bags and travels to France to the 'Beauvillier Castle'. With 'Monsieur Blake at Your Service' (2023), Gilles Legardinier not only adapted his own novel, he also succeeds in creating an ingenious combination of dry humour, quiet melancholy and English eccentricity, as well as a perfect cast for the wonderfully shrill characters, right down to the supporting roles. The encounter of the 'Snobbish English Gentleman' Andrew Blake - confidently and charmingly played by John Malkovich - with the world of the French in the countryside, led by the grande dame of French cinema Fanny Ardant, who breathes life into the lady of the castle in a restrained and at the same time delicately dignified way, simply puts a smile on everyone's lips.
