The American officer McLash, four Cuban exiles and a Guatemalan landed on the coast of Cuba. They are supposed to prepare an invasion under the code word 'Preludio', blow up a strategically important bridge and recruit allies against Castro's regime. Commander Palomino (Günther Simon) is corrupt and her first secret accomplice. His colleague Daniela (Aurora Depestre) learns of the plans for the coup d'état. In 1963, Kurt Maetzig filmed a highly explosive topic in 'Preludio 11': the machinations of revolution and counterrevolution in Cuba, which had become highly topical due to the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961. The director and film crew worked in front of locations true to the original and expected the conflict to escalate on a daily basis.
