René Boirond (Philippe Noiret) ist ein Flic in Paris, einer dessen beste Freunde die Ganoven sind. René ist bestechlich, faul, korrupt, bequem und nur auf seinen Vorteil bedacht. Und er lebt gut damit! Solange, bis eines Tages François Lesbuche (Thierry Lhermitte) auftaucht. Frisch von der Polizeischule, sind für ihn Recht und Ordnung noch klar definierte Begriffe. Prompt geraten René und François aneinander und jeder versucht, den anderen zu bekehren. Und wäre nicht Sex mit ins Spiel gekommen, wer weiß, wer schließlich gewonnen hätte. So aber lernen beide dazu und François lernt gleich so schnell, dass René am Ende aus dem Staunen gar nicht mehr herauskommt...
