Hannes (Sebastian Bezzel) hat eigentlich alles, was man zum Glücklichsein braucht: eine liebevolle Familie, ein Haus im Grünen und eine solide Karriere als Schriftsteller. Die großen Bestsellerjahre sind zwar vorbei, doch Hannes nimmt das mit stoischer Gelassenheit - er ist einfach gerne Ehemann und Vater. Nur seine Familie sieht das anders. Seiner Frau Sara (Anna Schudt) und den Kindern Carla (Kya-Celina Barucki) und Nick (Philip Müller) geht er mit übermotivierter Fürsorge und Spätboomer-Weisheiten zunehmend auf die Nerven. Und dann kommt alles auf einmal. Der Verlag stellt seine Romanreihe ein, Nicks Aussicht auf das Abitur sieht schlecht aus und Carla beschließt, von Zuhause auszuziehen. Als seiner Frau Sara schließlich eine Auszeit von der Ehe will und mit Tochter Carla eine WG gründet, steht Hannes' Wohlfühlwelt endgültig Kopf. Er kapituliert, bis er Vanessa (Judith Bohle) begegnet. Gelingt es ausgerechnet ihr, Hannes endlich aus seiner Comfort-Zone zu kicken?
Unter der Regie von Sönke Wortmann, der nicht nur mit 'Der Vorname', 'Der Nachname', 'Der Spitzname' oder 'Contra' bewiesen hat, dass er die Herzen der deutschen Kinofans zugleich berühren und zum Lachen bringen kann, und nach dem Drehbuch von Romanautor Jan Weiler mit Robert Gold ('Der Fall Collini') spielen an der Seite von Sebastian Bezzel ('Eberhofer' Reihe) und Anna Schudt ('Hundertdreizehn') auch Kya-Celina Barucki ('Mädchen Mädchen'), Philip Müller ('Die Schule der magischen Tiere 4'), Judith Bohle ('Safe'), Thomas Loibl ('Konklave') und Nilam Farooq ('Contra'). 'Die Ältern' (2025) ist eine Produktion von 'Constantin Film', produziert von Christoph Müller und Nurhan Sekerci-Porst. Executive-Producer waren Oliver Berben und Viola Jäger. Regie führte Sönke Wortmann. Jan Weiler, auf dessen gleichnamigen Roman der Film beruht, zeichnete mit Robert Gold für das Drehbuch verantwortlich. 'Die Ältern' wurde gefördert von der MOIN-Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein, der Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, der Filmförderungsanstalt 'FFA', dem Deutschen Filmförderfonds 'DFFF' sowie dem Beauftragten der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien. Hannes (Sebastian Bezzel) actually has everything you need to be happy: a loving family, a house in the countryside and a solid career as a writer. The great bestseller years are over, but Hannes takes it with stoic composure - he simply likes to be a husband and father. Only his family sees it differently. He is increasingly getting on the nerves of his wife Sara (Anna Schudt) and their children Carla (Kya-Celina Barucki) and Nick (Philip Müller) with over-motivated care and late-boomer wisdom. And then everything comes at once. The publishing house discontinues its series of novels, Nick's prospects of graduating from high school look bad and Carla decides to move out of home. 'The Elders' (2025) is a production of 'Constantin Film', produced by Christoph Müller and Nurhan Sekerci-Porst. Executive producers were Oliver Berben and Viola Jäger. The film was directed by Sönke Wortmann. Jan Weiler, on whose novel of the same name the film is based, was responsible for the screenplay with Robert Gold.
