Die 24-jährige Christin (Saskia Rosendahl) lebt auf dem Bauernhof ihres langjährigen Freundes Jan (Rick Okon). Die Aufbruchsstimmung der Nachwendejahre, die ihre Kindheit prägten, ist längst dahin und auch in ihrer Beziehung gibt es schon lange keine Liebe mehr. Ihr Vater säuft. Den Kirsch hat auch Christin immer griffbereit unterm Autositz. Unter der flirrenden Hitze des Sommers scheint die Zeit stillzustehen. Von der Idylle, der Weite, der Enge der Provinz und vom Aufwachsen in Einsamkeit erzählt Sabrina Sarabi (Buch und Regie) in ihrem zweiten Kinofilm 'Niemand ist bei den Kälbern' (2021) nach dem gleichnamigen Erfolgsroman von Alina Herbing. In den Hauptrollen sind Saskia Rosendahl, Rick Okon und Godehard Giese zu sehen. Die Kamera führte Max Preiss, der schon bei Sarabis Langfilmdebüt 'Prelude' (2019) für eindringliche Bilder sorgte. Der Film feierte beim 74. Internationalen Filmfestivals Locarno 2021 seine Weltpremiere. Hauptdarstellerin Rosendahl gewann im Wettbewerb 'Cineasti del presente' den 'Leoparden' als beste Schauspielerin. Beim Filmfest Hamburg wurde 'Niemand ist bei den Kälbern' mit dem Hamburger Produzentenpreis für deutsche Kinoproduktionen ausgezeichnet. Produziert wurde der Film von 'Weydemann Bros.', die zusammen mit Sarabi bereits ihr gefeiertes Langfilmdebüt 'Prelude' realisierten. Gedreht wurde auf dem Land in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern und Schleswig-Holstein sowie in Hamburg. 'Filmwelt' brachte 'Niemand ist bei den Kälbern' am 20. Januar 2022 in Deutschland bundesweit in die Kinos.

Sabrina Sarabi (screenwriter and director) tells of the idyll, the vastness, the narrowness of the province and growing up in solitude in her second feature film 'Nobody is with the Calves' (2021), based on the successful novel of the same name by Alina Herbing. The leading roles are played by Saskia Rosendahl, Rick Okon and Godehard Giese. The camera was led by Max Preiss, who already provided haunting images for Sarabi's feature film debut 'Prelude' (2019). The film celebrated its world premiere at the 74th Locarno International Film Festival in 2021. Leading actress Rosendahl won the 'Leopard' as best actress in the competition 'Cineasti del presente'. At the Hamburg Film Festival, 'Nobody is with the Calves' was awarded the Hamburg Producers' Award for German Cinema Productions. The film was produced by 'Weydemann Bros.', who already made their acclaimed feature film debut 'Prelude' together with Sarabi. Filming took place in the countryside in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Schleswig-Holstein as well as in Hamburg. 'Filmwelt' brought 'Nobody is with the Calves' to cinemas nationwide in Germany on January 20, 2022.
