Großstadtbulle Killmer (Uwe Ochsenknecht) hat sich bei einem verdeckten Einsatz beruflich bewährt, aber privat böse in die Nesseln gesetzt. Deshalb wird er wegbefördert: aufs Land, in die Eifel, weit weg von seinem gewohnten Jagdrevier. In dem ausgesprochen übersichtlichen Städtchen Monreal hat Ortspolizistin Kati Biver (Diana Amft) sich gerade in die Großstadt wegbeworben, weil ihr zu wenig los ist. Kati freut sich keineswegs, dass sie plötzlich einen Chef vor der Nase hat und findet Killmers lässiges Großstadtgehabe einerseits äußerst provozierend. Andererseits überzeugt sie ihr Kollege Bernd (Oliver Bröcker), dass Killmers eigentliche Mission in Monreal ist, ihre Tauglichkeit für die Großstadtpolizei zu überprüfen. Und so versucht die ehrgeizige junge Polizistin mehr oder weniger widerwillig, Killmer mit ihren Fähigkeiten zu beeindrucken, während Killmer kaum fassen kann, wie friedlich, um nicht zu sagen langweilig es in Monreal zugeht. Doch kaum ist Killmer im Gasthof eingezogen, bricht dort ein Brand aus. Eindeutig Brandstiftung, da sind sich Killmer und Kati mal einig. Um zu vertuschen, dass die Leiche, die in einem der Zimmer liegt, vor dem Brand erschossen wurde. Großzügig überlässt Killmer seiner jungen Kollegin bei den Mordermittlungen den Vortritt. Er will ja ohnehin so schnell wie möglich wieder weg. Aber Killmer sitzt in Monreal fest und Kati kann ein wenig Unterstützung bei ihren Ermittlungen durchaus brauchen. Während sie einer Familientragödie auf die Spur kommen, merken Kati und Killmer, dass es sich gemeinsam doch ganz gut ermitteln lässt.

Big city cop Killmer (Uwe Ochsenknecht) has proven himself professionally during an undercover operation, but privately put himself in the nettles. That's why he is transported away: to the countryside, to the Eifel, far away from his usual hunting grounds. In the very small town of Monreal, local policewoman Kati Biver (Diana Amft) has just applied to leave for the big city because there is too little going on for her. Kati is by no means happy that she suddenly has a boss in front of her nose and finds Killmer's casual big-city demeanor extremely provocative on the one hand. On the other hand, her colleague Bernd (Oliver Bröcker) convinces her that Killmer's real mission in Monreal is to check her suitability for the metropolitan police. And so the ambitious young policewoman tries more or less reluctantly to impress Killmer with her skills, while Killmer can hardly believe how peaceful, not to say boring, things are in Monreal. But no sooner has Killmer moved into the inn than a fire breaks out there. Clearly arson, Killmer and Kati agree. To cover up the fact that the body, which lies in one of the rooms, was shot before the fire. Killmer generously leaves the right of way to his young colleague in the murder investigation. He wants to leave as soon as possible anyway. But Killmer is stuck in Monreal and Kati can use a little help with her investigation. While they get to the bottom of a family tragedy, Kati and Killmer realize that it can be investigated quite well together.
