'Mary Shelley' ist die Geschichte einer kämpferischen, jungen Frau, die einen der größten literarischen Welterfolge überhaupt hervorbrachte. 200 Jahre ist es her, dass die erste Auflage des Romans 'Frankenstein' erschien, damals noch unter männlichem Pseudonym. Das aufwendige Period-Movie 'Mary Shelley' (2017) wurde inszeniert von der saudi-arabische Regisseurin Haifaa Al Mansour, die mit ihrem ersten Spielfilm 'Das Mädchen Wadjda' (2012) international für Furore sorgte. In der Hauptrolle: Elle Fanning, eine der derzeit spannendsten und vielseitigsten Jungschauspielerinnen Hollywoods, die unter anderem durch ihre Rollen in 'Die Verführten', 'Maleficent - Die dunkle Fee' oder 'Der seltsame Fall des Benjamin Button' in den vergangenen Jahren für Aufsehen sorgte.
