Der kleine mexikanische Ort 'Santa Bonita' war schon immer ein Hort des Bösen. Alle 50 Jahre, am traditionellen 'Tag der Toten', öffnet sich das Tor zur Hölle, welches der finstere Großgrundbesitzer Vargaz Diaz Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts aufstieß, um ewiges Leben zu erhalten. An diesem Tag erheben sich die Toten aus ihren Gräbern, was nur durch ein Menschenopfer verhindert werden kann. Doch davon ahnen Alicia (Marisa Ramirez) und Joss (Travis Wester) nichts, als sie die Zeremonie versehentlich stören. Das junge amerikanische Pärchen, das sich eigentlich nur auf der Durchreise befand, steuert unversehens auf einen furchtbaren Alptraum zu, bei dem die aufgebrachten Bewohner Santa Bonitas das kleinste Problem darstellen. Ein altes Hotel erweist sich schließlich als letzter Zufluchtsort vor der unvermeidlichen Invasion der Zombies am Tag der Toten...
Regisseur Jeremy Kasten ('Attic Expeditions', 'The Wizard of Gore') versammelt für seinen außergewöhnlich stimmungsvollen und harten Zombiefilm 'All Souls Day' (2005) eine ganze Riege bekannter Gesichter. So sorgen unter anderem Kultmexikaner Danny Trejo ('From Dusk till Dawn', 'Con Air', 'Machete'), Laura Harring ('Mulholland Drive') sowie Jeffrey Combs ('Re-Animator', 'House on Haunted Hill') für aufregende Momente. Doch die eigentlichen Stars sind selbstverständlich die Zombies, die in diesem einfallsreichen Schocker besonders brutal und aggressiv agieren. The small Mexican town of 'Santa Bonita' has always been a haven of evil. On this day, the dead rise from their graves, which can only be prevented by human sacrifice. But Alicia (Marisa Ramirez) and Joss (Travis Wester) have no idea of this when they accidentally disrupt the ceremony. The young American couple, who were actually just passing through, are unexpectedly heading for a terrible nightmare in which the angry inhabitants of Santa Bonita are the least of the problems. An old hotel finally turns out to be the last refuge from the inevitable invasion of the zombies on the Day of the Dead...
Director Jeremy Kasten ('Attic Expeditions', 'The Wizard of Gore') assembles a whole squad of familiar faces for his extraordinarily atmospheric and hard zombie film 'All Souls Day' (2005). Cult Mexican Danny Trejo ('From Dusk till Dawn', 'Con Air', 'Machete'), Laura Harring ('Mulholland Drive') and Jeffrey Combs ('Re-Animator', 'House on Haunted Hill'), among others, provide exciting moments. But the real stars are of course the zombies, who act particularly brutally and aggressively in this imaginative shocker. Horror fans can expect a suspenseful splatter fest of special quality with 'All Souls Day'.
