Der wahnsinnig geschwätzige Literaturagent Jack McCall (Eddie Murphy) hat nicht nur eine flinke Zunge, sondern nimmt es auch mit der Wahrheit nicht immer so genau. Um neue Geschäfte abzuschließen, schreckt er nicht davor zurück, seine potentiellen Kunden regelrecht an die Wand zu quatschen und diese mit leeren Worten über den Tisch zu ziehen. Als der egozentrische Literaturagent dann allerdings seine dubiose, aber bisher erfolg- und wortreiche Masche an New-Age-Guru Dr. Sinja (Cliff Curtis) praktiziert, kommt dieser ihm auf die Schliche und belegt ihn mit einem Fluch. Plötzlich sprießt in Jacks Garten ein magischer Baum, der bei jedem Wort, das Jack spricht, ein Blatt verliert. Mit großem Schrecken wird Jack nach und nach klar, dass mit dem letzten Blatt nicht nur der Baum, sondern auch er das Zeitliche segnen wird. Jack McCall war noch nie um Worte verlegen, doch jetzt muss er seine flinke Zunge im Zaum halten und auf andere, mitunter zum Schreien komische Weise kommunizieren, oder er ist erledigt. Mit 'Noch tausend Worte' schuf Regisseur und Produzent Brian Robbins, der für erfolgreiche Serien wie 'Smallville' verantwortlich war, eine unterhaltsame Geschichte für die ganze Familie. In der charmanten Komödie wird der egoistische Jack McCall gezwungen, nicht mehr mit leeren Worthülsen um sich zu schmeißen, sondern mit seiner Familie und Freunden auf ganz andere, ehrlichere Weise zu kommunizieren. In der Rolle des Jack McCall liefert der Oscar-nominierte Comedy-Star Eddie Murphy ('Dreamgirls', 'Mensch Dave') einmal mehr einen urkomischen Filmauftritt. Cliff Curtis ('Colombiana', 'Die Legende von Aang') beweist als spiritueller Guru Dr. Sinja, dass er nicht nur im Actionsegment, sondern auch in einer Familienkomödie das Publikum für sich gewinnen kann. The insanely talkative literary agent Jack McCall (Eddie Murphy) not only has a nimble tongue, but also doesn't always take the truth so seriously. In order to conclude new business, he does not shy away from literally talking his potential customers to the wall and pulling them over the table with empty words. However, when the egocentric literary agent then practices his dubious, but so far successful and wordy scam on New Age guru Dr. Sinja (Cliff Curtis), the latter finds out about him and puts a curse on him. Suddenly, a magical tree sprouts in Jack's garden, which loses a leaf with every word Jack speaks. With great horror, Jack gradually realizes that with the last leaf, not only the tree, but also he will die in time. Jack McCall has never been at a loss for words, but now he has to keep his nimble tongue in check and communicate in other, sometimes hilarious ways, or he's finished. With the 1000 leaves of the tree, he has just 1000 words left. So he should think carefully about what he says...

Cliff Curtis ('Colombiana', 'The Legend of Aang') proves as spiritual guru Dr. Sinja that he can win over audiences not only in the action segment, but also in a family comedy. And the beautiful Kerry Washington ('The Last King of Scotland') convinces as the eloquent wife of the gossipy Jack McCall.
