'Bugatti' war ein Automobilhersteller aus Molsheim im Elsass in Frankreich. Seine Produktion lief von 1909 bis 1963. Die Firma wurde von Ettore Bugatti gegründet. Bugatti gilt weltweit als eine der berühmtesten Automarken überhaupt und ist sicherlich die exklusivste französische Fahrzeugmarke der Automobilgeschichte. Die Firma war legendär dafür, die besten Sportwagen zu bauen, die es zu ihrer Zeit für Geld zu kaufen gab. Der ursprüngliche Bugatti-Betrieb ging nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg unter, aber die Marke erstand gleich zweimal wieder neu auf. Seit 1998 firmiert sie unter Volkswagen-Federführung. Der Automobil-Designer und -hersteller Ettore Arco Isidoro Bugatti wurde am 15. September 1881 in Mailand, Italien geboren als Kind einer bekannten Künstlerfamilie, die ihre Wurzeln in Norditalien hat. Er war der ältere Sohn von Carlo Bugatti. Obwohl in Italien geboren, gründete Ettore Bugatti seine Automobilfabrik in Molsheim im Elsass, das damals zum deutschen Kaiserreich gehörte und erst nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg zu Frankreich. Die Gesellschaft war bekannt für ihre hervorragende Ingenieurskunst bei Hochklasse-Automobilen und für Erfolge bei den frühen GrandPrix-Rennen; man gewann den allerersten GrandPrix von Monaco. Der Erfolg der Gesellschaft hatte seinen Höhepunkt im zweimaligen Doppelsieg im 24-Stunden-Rennen von Le Mans mit dem Fahrer Jean-Pierre Wimille 1937. Nur einige wenige Modelle der Autos von Ettore Bugatti wurden produziert: die berühmtesten waren der Type 35-Rennwagen, der riesige Royale, und der Type 55-Sportwagen. Über die gesamte Produktion von annähernd 7900 Wagen hinweg wurden die Modelle mit dem Buchstaben 'T' für Typ benannt, die auf das Fahrgestell und den Antriebsstrang hinweisen.

Bugatti is considered one of the most famous car brands worldwide and is certainly the most exclusive French vehicle brand in automotive history. The company was legendary for building the best sports cars money could buy at the time. The original Bugatti operation went under after the Second World War, but the brand was resurrected twice. Since 1998, it has been under the leadership of Volkswagen. The automobile designer and manufacturer Ettore Arco Isidoro Bugatti was born on September 15, 1881 in Milan, Italy as the child of a well-known family of artists who have their roots in northern Italy. He was the elder son of Carlo Bugatti. Although born in Italy, Ettore Bugatti founded his car factory in Molsheim in Alsace, which at that time belonged to the German Empire and only after the First World War to France. The company was known for its outstanding engineering skills in high-class automobiles and for its successes in the early Grand Prix races; they won the very first Monaco Grand Prix. The company's success culminated in a double victory in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with driver Jean-Pierre Wimille in 1937. Only a few models of Ettore Bugatti's cars were produced: the most famous were the Type 35 racing car, the giant Royale, and the Type 55 sports car. Throughout the entire production of almost 7900 cars, the models were named with the letter 'T' for type, which refer to the chassis and the powertrain.
