Ferrari ist eine italienische Automarke, welche durch ihre Sportwagen und ihr Engagement bei Rennen (in jünger Zeit nur noch in der Formel 1) berühmt geworden ist. Die Firma wurde 1946 vom ehemaligen Rennfahrer Enzo Ferrari als eigenständige Marke gegründet und gehört heute zum Fiat-Konzern. Stammsitz der Firma ist Maranello in Italien. Die Ursprünge der Firma gehen zurück auf das Rennteam Scuderia Ferrari, das von 1929 bis 1938 unter der Leitung von Enzo Ferrari u. a. als Werksteam von Alfa Romeo sehr erfolgreich Autorennen fuhr, ohne selbst Fahrzeuge zu bauen. Schon zu diesen Zeiten wurde das heute noch benutzte Logo verwendet: ein sich aufbauendes Pferd, das cavallinorampante. 1940 wurde die Scuderia in "Auto Avio Costruzioni Ferrari" umbenannt und zog 1943 nach Maranello um, wo sie bis heute ihren Hauptsitz hat. Der erste "echte" Ferrari war der 1947 gebaute Ferrari 125 C Sport mit einem 1,5 Liter-V12-Motor. Ferrari baute damals in erster Linie Rennwagen für Sportwagenrennen wie die Mille Miglia, die auch an Kunden verkauft wurden, um Geld zu verdienen. Daraus entwickelten sich Straßenwagen, die nicht für den Renneinsatz geeignet waren. Für exquisites Styling aus dem Haus Pininfarina bekannt, sind und waren die Autos von Ferrari ein ultimatives Accessoire für die Reichen und Schönen. Neben Pininfarina wurden auch Scaglietti, Bertone und Vignale mit dem Design von Ferraris beauftragt. Der Bau von hochgezüchteten kleinen V8- und V12-Motoren mit einprägsamem Klang, hoher Leistung und schönem Aussehen machte und macht einen Ferrari begehrenswert. Ferrari befand sich jedoch auch öfter in Krisen. Schon in den 1960er Jahren machte Ford ein Übernahmeangebot, das abgelehnt wurde, worauf Ford GT40 Ferrari's bisherige Vorherrschaft bei den Sportwagenrennen brach. Der Einstieg von Fiat 1969 erbrachte die Finanzen für eine teure Antwort auf den Porsche 917 durch den Bau von 25 Exemplaren des Ferrari 512, aber erst 1972 / 73 waren die Sportwagen wieder siegreich.

Ferrari is an Italian car brand that has become famous for its sports cars and its involvement in races (more recently only in Formula 1). The company was founded in 1946 by former racing driver Enzo Ferrari as an independent brand and is now part of the Fiat Group. The company is headquartered in Maranello, Italy. The origins of the company go back to the Scuderia Ferrari racing team, which from 1929 to 1938 under the management of Enzo Ferrari and others drove very successfully in car races as a works team of Alfa Romeo, among others, without building vehicles itself. Even at that time, the logo still used today was used: a horse building up, the cavallinorampante. In 1940, the Scuderia was renamed "Auto Avio Costruzioni Ferrari" and moved to Maranello in 1943, where it is still headquartered today.
