Ausgehend von einer großstädtischen Hinterhausgemeinschaft entfaltet Regisseurin Asli Özge in ihrem Kinofilm eine spannende Metapher auf unsere Gesellschaft, die immer mehr von Klassenunterschieden und gegenseitigem Misstrauen geprägt ist. Ihr Film thematisiert das zerfallende Gemeinschaftsgefühl und Auseinanderdriften gesamtgesellschaftlicher und demokratischer Strukturen in der heutigen Zeit. Zudem illustriert 'Black Box' den Kampf um bezahlbaren Wohnraum innerhalb urbaner Ballungszentren, die einem anhaltenden Gentrifizierungprozess unterworfen sind. Nach ihrem letzten Spielfilm 'Auf einmal', der 2016 im 'Panorama' der Berlinale-Filmfestspiele zu sehen war, präsentiert Özge nun die Premiere ihres neuen Werks zur Eröffnung der Reihe 'Neues Deutsches Kino' im Rahmen des 40. Filmfests München. 'Black Box' wurde gefördert durch das Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, die Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien, den Deutscher Filmförderfonds, Wallimage (La Wallonie), Tax Shelter du Gouvernement fédéral belge, Casa Kafka Pictures - Belfius und Eurimages.

Based on a metropolitan community in the back of the house, director Asli Özge unfolds an exciting metaphor for our society in her feature film, which is increasingly characterized by class differences and mutual mistrust. Her film addresses the disintegrating sense of community and the drifting apart of social and democratic structures in today's world. In addition, 'Black Box' illustrates the struggle for affordable housing within urban conurbations, which are subject to an ongoing process of gentrification. After her last feature film 'Auf einmal', which was shown in the 'Panorama' section of the Berlinale Film Festival in 2016, Özge now presents the premiere of her new work at the opening of the 'New German Cinema' section at the 40th Munich Film Festival.
