'Only Flying Is More Beautiful' is an irresistibly charming anti-stress film about love and passion, about magic and muse and about the liberating power of paddling: Michel (Bruno Podalydès), in his fifties, married, the children out of the house, nine-to-five job, is stuck in his daily routine. After work, when he gets on his motorcycle, he dreams of a different life. How much he would like to float through the evening sky in a propeller plane like his hero, airmail pioneer Jean Mermoz. One day, Michel comes across a photo of a kayak by chance and is thrilled by the perfect beauty and elegance of the object. It's love at first sight. One click, and a 'Grand Raid 416' to assemble yourself is in his virtual shopping basket. For a few days, Michel manages to hide the purchase from his wife Rachelle (Sandrine Kiberlain). Full of devotion, he assembles his kayak piece by piece on the roof terrace and accumulates more and more expedition equipment. Finally, Rachelle discovers the equipment store, puts an end to the dry runs and abandons her husband at a river so that he can finally get going and get on the water. Rachelle suspects that Michel's time out could turn their life together completely upside down.
