Und dann ist da noch Raphaël Tenreiro (Bastien Bouillon), Céciles Jugendliebe, der alte Gefühle aufwühlt. Zwischen Fritteuse, Erinnerungen und neuen Fragen gerät Céciles Leben ins Wanken. When the young, ambitious cook Cécile has to return to her chaotic family in the French provinces shortly before fulfilling her lifelong dream, her perfectly planned life begins to falter, for a day that could change everything: If Cécile Béguin's (Juliette Armanet) life were a recipe, it would have far too many ingredients. The aspiring gourmet chef and her partner Sofiane Garbi (Tewfik Jallab) are two weeks away from opening their first restaurant in Paris. What she is still missing is the one, decisive 'signature dish'. In the middle of the preparations, she receives the news of her father Gérard's (François Rollin) third heart attack. On the spur of the moment, she travels back - at least for one day - to the sleepy provincial town of her childhood. But the visit goes differently than planned. Her mother Fanfan (Dominique Blanc) struggles with the family's trucker pub on the expressway, where French fries are an integral part of the menu. Gérard, a passionate cook like his daughter, has discharged himself from the hospital. And then there is Raphaël Tenreiro (Bastien Bouillon), Cécile's childhood sweetheart, who stirs up old feelings. 'Just for a Day' (2025) is the feature film version of the short film of the same name by director Amélie Bonnin, which won Best Short Film at the 'Césars' in 2023. Together with co-writer Dimitri Lucas, she wrote the screenplay for the finely observed tragicomedy about family obligations, old dreams and new perspectives. Bonnin, previously best known as an illustrator and music video director, was able to win the French musician Juliette Armanet, one of the most distinctive voices of French pop, for the leading role in her feature film debut. At the latest since her spectacular performance at the Olympic opening in Paris, when she sailed down the 'Seine' on a boat, stood in front of a burning piano and sang John Lennon's 'Imagine', she is known to an international audience. With great presence and emotional depth, she plays the ambitious cook Cécile. At her side, François Rollin, one of France's most renowned comedians, convinces as her quirky, star-headed father with quiet humor.
