Die Sommerferien haben begonnen und 'Die drei ???' wollen einen Roadtrip unternehmen. Doch gerade als Justus Jonas (Julius Weckauf), Peter Shaw (Nevio Wendt) und Bob Andrews (Levi Brandl) aufbrechen wollen, klingelt in der Zentrale das Telefon und ein unbekannter Anrufer übergibt dem Detektiv-Trio ihren neuesten Fall. Da sind die Urlaubspläne natürlich schnell vergessen. Die drei Jungs verfolgen die Spuren und stoßen auf den Geheimbund 'Sphinx' rund um den mysteriösen Professor Phoenix (Andreas Pietschmann). Dessen Gruppe von Archäologen führt illegale Ausgrabungen durch und verkauft die so gestohlenen Kunstschätze. Sphinx startet bald eine Expedition zu der aktiven Vulkaninsel 'Makatao', die auch als die Toteninsel bekannt ist. Denn die dort gelegene Ruhestätte eines uralten Volkes soll mit einem Fluch belegt sein. Niemand, der Makatao betritt, kommt lebend zurück. Warum begibt sich Sphinx auf eine so waghalsige Reise? Und was hat der erfolgreiche Unternehmer Joseph Saito Hadden (Simon Kluth) mit der Expedition zu tun?
Mit dem Kinofilm 'Die drei ??? - Toteninsel' (2026) präsentiert Regisseur Tim Dünschede seinen inzwischen dritten Film der neuen 'Drei Fragezeichen' Filmreihe. Darin haben die drei Detektive alle Hände voll zu tun, bei einem seltsamen Rätsel und einem unbekannten Anrufer. Zunächst denkt Justus an einen Scherz, doch dann schickt der Anrufer ein Fax mit Informationen zu einer Geheimorganisation von Archäologen namens 'Sphinx'. Wer oder was verbirgt sich hinter dem geheimnisvollen Namen? Wie schon der zweite Teil der Filmreihe 'Die drei ??? und der Karpatenhund' 2024) knüpft auch 'Die drei ??? - Toteninsel' an die Ereignisse der Vorgängerfilme an und präsentiert zugleich eine der erfolgreichsten Klassiker-Episoden der beliebten Bücher und Hörspiele rund um die drei jungen Detektive in einem modernen und neuen Gewand. Die Hauptrollen spielen Julius Weckauf ('Der Junge muss an die frische Luft') als Justus Jonas und Anführer des berühmten Trios, Nevio Wendt ('Rocca verändert die Welt') als Peter Shaw und Levi Brandl als Bob Andrews. An ihrer Seite sind wieder Florian Lukas ('Good Bye, Lenin!', 'Absolute Giganten') als Onkel Titus und Jördis Triebel ('Dark', 'Babylon Berlin') als Tante Mathilda zu sehen. Neu zum Cast hinzu stoßen Andreas Pietschmann ('Dark', '1899') und Jannik Schümann ('Die Mitte der Welt', 'Disko 76') als die Sphinx-Mitglieder Professor Phoenix und Olin. Dünschede führte erneut Regie, das Drehbuch schrieb Anil Kizilbuga in Zusammenarbeit mit Dünschede. Die dramaturgische Beratung übernahm wieder der langjährige 'Die drei ???' Buchautor André Marx. Der Film wurde gefördert von der Filmförderungsanstalt 'FFA', dem Deutschen Filmförderfonds 'DFFF' sowie dem FilmFernsehFonds Bayern 'FFF Bayern' mit Unterstützung des 'Canary Island Tax Rebate'. Of course, the holiday plans are quickly forgotten. The three boys follow the clues and come across the secret society 'Sphinx' around the mysterious Professor Phoenix (Andreas Pietschmann). Like the second part of the film series 'The Three ??? and the Carpathian Dog' 2024), 'The Three ??? - Isle of the Dead' and at the same time presents one of the most successful classic episodes of the popular books and radio plays about the three young detectives in a modern and new guise. The main roles are played by Julius Weckauf ('The Boy Needs Fresh Air') as Justus Jonas and leader of the famous trio, Nevio Wendt ('Rocca Changes the World') as Peter Shaw and Levi Brandl as Bob Andrews. At her side are Florian Lukas ('Good Bye, Lenin!', 'Absolute Giganten') as Uncle Titus and Jördis Triebel ('Dark', 'Babylon Berlin') as Aunt Mathilda. New to the cast are Andreas Pietschmann ('Dark', '1899') and Jannik Schümann ('Die Mitte der Welt', 'Disko 76') as Sphinx members Professor Phoenix and Olin. Dünschede directed again, the screenplay was written by Anil Kizilbuga in collaboration with Dünschede. The dramaturgical advice was again provided by the long-standing 'The Three ???' Book author André Marx. The film was supported by the German Federal Film Board (FFA), the German Film Fund (DFFF) and the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern (FFF Bayern) with the support of the Canary Island Tax Rebate.
