Peter Hansen (Jer Adrianne Lelliott) ist elf Jahre alt. Er will wie sein Vater Polizist werden. Sein Vater ist im Dienst ums Leben gekommen. Seine berufstätige Mutter Sarah (Alexandra Paul) beunruhigen Peters Streifengänge durch die verschlafene Kleinstadt 'Leesbrook'. Frank Rebbins (Edward Albert) ist der Chef der örtlichen Polizei. Er vertritt den Vater bei Peter. Frank hat Problem, er fühlt sich am Tod von Peters Vater mitschuldig. Er ist heimlich in Peters Mutter Sarah verliebt. Ihm fehlt das Geld für einen neuen Streifenwagen und dafür, seinen Vater Charlie weiterhin als Sergeant zu beschäftigen. Lisa Lezinski (Bethany Richards) ist in Leesbrook zugezogen. Sie teilt Peters Dedektiv-Interessen. Nach einem Einbruch im Schlüsselgeschäft des Bürgermeisters führt die Spur in die Autowerkstatt von Arnold Downey (Tim Thomerson). Wenig später wird auch hier eingebrochen, jedoch nur eine Maschine benutzt, um den Schlüssel zum Bürgermeisteramt zu kopieren. Was soll das? Im Bürgermeisteramt gibt es kein Geld. Liza und Peter recherchieren, kombinieren, finden den Täter.

His working mother Sarah (Alexandra Paul) is worried by Peter's patrols through the sleepy small town of 'Leesbrook'. Frank Rebbins (Edward Albert) is the chief of the local police. He represents his father with Peter. Frank has a problem, he feels complicit in the death of Peter's father. He is secretly in love with Peter's mother Sarah. He lacks the money for a new patrol car and for continuing to employ his father Charlie as a sergeant. Lisa Lezinski (Bethany Richards) has moved to Leesbrook. She shares Peter's detective interests. After a burglary in the mayor's key store, the trail leads to Arnold Downey's (Tim Thomerson) car repair shop. A little later, there is also a break-in here, but only a machine is used to copy the key to the mayor's office. What is this? There is no money in the mayor's office. Liza and Peter research, combine, find the culprit.
