Der Student Jarle Klepp (Rolf Kristian Larsen) fühlt sich zwischen Literaturtheorie, Partys und Affären ziemlich wohl. Eines Morgens flattert ihm ein Brief ins Haus und das Leben, wie Jarle es kannte, ist vorbei. Der Brief erklärt ihn zum Vater einer Tochter. Eine ganze Woche und ihren 7. Geburtstag soll Charlotte Isabel mit ihm verbringen. So will es die Mutter, ein One-Night-Stand aus Jugendtagen, die im Supermarkt arbeitet und endlich einmal Urlaub möchte. Beim Anblick ihres Papa und seiner verwüsteten Studentenbude voller Bücher und Zigaretten ist Lotte (Amina Eleonora Bergrem) alles andere als begeistert. Und auch Jarle wehrt sich vehement gegen den plötzlichen Erziehungsauftrag. Sein Wissenschaftler-Dasein reagiert allergisch auf das Familienidyll mit Kind und Kassiererin. Doch während Lotte sein Leben auf den Kopf stellt und seine Freunde über die Macht der Biologie philosophieren, wächst ihm das Mädchen immer mehr ans Herz. Pünktlich zur Geburtstagsparty taucht dann auch Lottes Mutter auf und Jarle wird wieder klar, was ihn einst so an ihr fasziniert hat...
'Jeg reiser alene - Ich reise allein' erzählt von einer aufbrausenden Zeit wilder Lebensfreude und stürmischer Zukunftspläne - eine Zeit, die vergessen lässt, dass man nicht alles kontrollieren kann. Student Jarle Klepp (Rolf Kristian Larsen) feels pretty comfortable between literary theory, parties and affairs. One morning, a letter flutters into his house and life as Jarle knew it is over. The letter declares him to be the father of a daughter. Charlotte Isabel is supposed to spend a whole week and her 7th birthday with him. That's what her mother wants, a one-night stand from her youth, who works in the supermarket and finally wants a vacation. At the sight of her dad and his devastated student apartment full of books and cigarettes, Lotte (Amina Eleonora Bergrem) is anything but enthusiastic. And Jarle also vehemently resists the sudden educational mandate. His existence as a scientist reacts allergically to the family idyll with child and cashier. But while Lotte turns his life upside down and his friends philosophize about the power of biology, the girl grows more and more close to his heart. Just in time for the birthday party, Lotte's mother shows up and Jarle realizes again what once fascinated him so much about her...
'Jeg reiser alene - I travel alone' tells of an effervescent time of wild joie de vivre and stormy plans for the future - a time that makes you forget that you can't control everything. An energetic and wonderfully weird film full of anger, full of life and full of hope that one day everything will be fine.
