Der gefeierte Produzent, Autor und Regisseur Todd Field, der zuvor für seine Regiewerke 'In the Bedroom' (2001) und 'Little Children' (2006) gefeiert wurde, brachte mit seinem Filmporträt 'Tár' (2023) ein besonderes Stück Kino zu den Filmfestspielen von Venedig. Zur Weltpremiere am 1. September 2022, mit Cate Blanchett in der Rolle der fiktiven Musikerin Lydia Tár neben Noémie Merlant (aus 'Porträt einer jungen Frau in Flammen') als Francesca Lentini und Mark Strong ('1917') als Elliot Kaplan. Fields 'Tár' taucht ein in die sich wandelnden Machtverhältnisse, deren Einfluss und Bestand in unserer modernen Welt, zeichnet das Bild einer hochkomplexen Frauenfigur und gleichzeitig ein provokatives Porträt des klassischen Musikbetriebs. Die Cellistin Sophie Kauer gibt hier ihr Debüt als Schauspielerin. Regie führte der dreifach Oscar-Nominierte Field, der auch das Drehbuch schrieb und den Film gemeinsam mit Alexandra Milchan ('The Wolf of Wall Street') und Scott Lambert ('The Silence') produzierte. Der aus Kalifornien stammende Filmemacher kehrt damit nach 16-jähriger Pause auf den Regiestuhl zurück. Die Musik stammt von der Oscar-prämierten Komponistin und Cellistin Hildur Guðnadóttir ('Joker'). Die bundesweite deutsche Kinopremiere fand am 2. März 2023 statt, der Heimkinostart am 17. August 2023.

For the world premiere on September 1, 2022, with Cate Blanchett in the role of fictional musician Lydia Tár alongside Noémie Merlant (from 'Portrait of a Young Woman in Flames') as Francesca Lentini and Mark Strong ('1917') as Elliot Kaplan. Fields 'Tár' dives into the changing power relations, their influence and persistence in our modern world, paints the picture of a highly complex female figure and at the same time a provocative portrait of the classical music business. Cellist Sophie Kauer makes her debut as an actress here. It was directed by three-time Oscar nominee Field, who also wrote the screenplay and produced the film together with Alexandra Milchan ('The Wolf of Wall Street') and Scott Lambert ('The Silence'). The California-born filmmaker returns to the director's chair after a 16-year break. The music is by Oscar-winning composer and cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir ('Joker'). The nationwide German cinema premiere took place on March 2, 2023, with the home cinema release on August 17, 2023.
