Berlin zu Beginn der 1990er Jahre. Tausende junger Leute sind in die Stadt gekommen, um die neu entstandene Freiheit ausprobieren zu können. Im Osten tobt der Kampf um besetzte Häuser und 'Kreuzberg' erlebt politisch unruhige Zeiten. Zu den vielen, die sich in der Stadt ohne Mauern ein neues Leben aufbauen wollen, gehört die Kanadierin Jonnie (Yvonne Ducksworth). Sie ist jung, impulsiv und kann gut singen. Für ihre alte Heimat empfindet sie nur Verachtung. Den miesen Job als Bedienung in einer Besetzerkneipe macht sie gerne, solange sie gleichzeitig die Frontfrau der Band 'Jellobelly' sein kann. Für 'Jellobelly' und andere Bands ist das alternative 'Rock House' eine zweite Heimat. Doch eines Tages fällt das abbruchreife Haus Spekulanten in die Hände. Die Band ist vom Rauswurf bedroht. Und auch privat kommt Jonnies Leben ins Schlingern. Sie verliebt sich in den charmanten Alleskönner Erik (Jan Erik Engel), doch der fordert eine feste Beziehung, und das verträgt sich nicht mit ihrem Freiheitswillen. Zudem ist Erik in illegale Machenschaften verwickelt. Er und seine Freunde wollen mit einem Piratensender ihre politischen Forderungen öffentlich machen. Nur wissen sie nicht, wo sie die teuren Sendeanlagen hernehmen sollen. Als jedoch Jonnie mitsamt Band den Reporter eines Lokalsenders kennenlernt,der in seinem Programm ein Livekonzert übertragen will, wittern Erik und seine Freunde die Chance. Sie klauen kurzerhand den Ü-Wagen...

Berlin at the beginning of the 1990s. Thousands of young people have come to the city to try out the newly created freedom. In the East, the battle for squats rages and 'Kreuzberg' is experiencing politically turbulent times. Among the many who want to build a new life for themselves in the city without walls is the Canadian Jonnie (Yvonne Ducksworth). She is young, impulsive and can sing well. She feels nothing but contempt for her old homeland. She likes to do the lousy job as a waitress in a squatter's pub, as long as she can be the front woman of the band 'Jellobelly' at the same time. For 'Jellobelly' and other bands, the alternative 'Rock House' is a second home. But one day, the house ready for demolition falls into the hands of speculators. The band is threatened with expulsion. And Jonnie's private life also starts to falter. She falls in love with the charming all-rounder Erik (Jan Erik Engel), but he demands a stable relationship, and that is not compatible with her desire for freedom. In addition, Erik is involved in illegal machinations. He and his friends want to make their political demands public with a pirate station. But they don't know where to get the expensive transmitters. However, when Jonnie and his band meet the reporter of a local radio station who wants to broadcast a live concert on his program, Erik and his friends sense the opportunity. 'Trouble - Kreuzberg nach dem Fall der Mauer' (1993), with the charismatic Yvonne Ducksworth, singer of the cult band 'Jingo deLunch', Françoise Cactus from 'Stereo Total' as well as Erdal Yildiz from 'Lola und Bilidikid' and 'Barfuss', 'Trouble' is a strong scene film by Penelope Buitenhuis and at the same time a contemporary document with a great soundtrack.
