In seinem existentialistischen Filmdrama 'Monolith' (2023) erzählt Regisseur und Autor Julius Schultheiß von Kontrollverlust und Selbstauflösung eines getriebenen, eigenschaftslosen Mannes. Der deutsche Vetrieb 'UCM.ONE' vermarktet den preisgekrönten essayistischen Film-noir auf dem Label 'Darling Berlin'. Regiekommentar von Schultheiß: "Durch einen Verlust in meinem persönlichen Umfeld hatte ich den Grundgedanken, einen sehr ruhigen und existentialistischen Film zu machen. Es sollte ein Drama werden, jedoch auch Aspekte einer Kriminalgeschichte beinhalten. Dabei war ich davon angetan, die Handlung auf 24 Stunden zu begrenzen und einer einzelnen Person ohne Unterbrechung zu folgen." Sein viel beachtetes Debüt 'Lotte' premierte in der 'Perspektive Deutsches Kino' Berlinale-Reihe bei den 66. Internationalen Filmfestspielen Berlin 2016 und gewann im gleichen JAhr beim Achtung-Berlin-Filmfestival den Hauptpreis. 2023 wurde sein zweiter Langfilm 'Monolith' ebenfalls mit dem Hauptpreis des Achtung-Berlin-Festivals ausgezeichnet.

In his existentialist film drama 'Monolith' (2023), director and writer Julius Schultheiß tells the story of the loss of control and self-dissolution of a driven, featureless man. The German distributor 'UCM. ONE' markets the award-winning essayistic film noir on the label 'Darling Berlin'. Director's comment by Schultheiß: "Due to a loss in my personal environment, I had the basic idea of making a very calm and existentialist film. It was supposed to be a drama, but also contain aspects of a crime story. I was impressed by the idea of limiting the action to 24 hours and following a single person without interruption." His highly acclaimed debut 'Lotte' premiered in the 'Perspektive Deutsches Kino' Berlinale section at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival in 2016 and won the main prize at the Achtung-Berlin Film Festival in the same year. In 2023, his second feature film 'Monolith' was also awarded the main prize at the Achtung-Berlin-Festival.
