Georg wird für den neugeborenen Jakob wie selbstverständlich zum Vater. Die zusammengesetzte Familie hat mit den üblichen Problemen moderner Eltern zu kämpfen: Wer darf arbeiten, wer kümmert sich ums Kind? Wie viel Freiheit darf noch sein, wie viel Selbstaufgabe muss sein? Und wo bleibt bei alledem die Leidenschaft? Ein paar Jahre später sind sie getrennt. Jakob (Justus Fischer) ist sechs Jahre alt und Georg und Sophie kämpfen verbissen um das Sorgerecht für ihren Sohn. Doch dann fängt ausgerechnet Sophies neuer Partner an, zwischen den Fronten zu vermitteln...

Sophie and Georg once loved each other. Now they are separated. In individual snapshots, this film paints a laconic portrait of a modern family. A serious break-up comedy with vocal interludes: Sophie (Birte Schnöink) and Georg (Ole Lagerpusch) get to know and love each other when Sophie is heavily pregnant and abandoned by her last boyfriend. Georg becomes a father to the newborn Jakob as a matter of course. The composite family has to struggle with the usual problems of modern parents: Who is allowed to work, who takes care of the child? How much freedom can there still be, how much self-abandonment must there be? And where is the passion in all this? A few years later, they separated. Jakob (Justus Fischer) is six years old and Georg and Sophie fight doggedly for custody of their son. But then Sophie's new partner, of all people, begins to mediate between the fronts...
