Dhristine Dubreuil (Karin Viard) und ihre Familie gehören zur gut betuchten Pariser Oberschicht. Nichts stört die gutbürgerliche Idylle ihrer knapp 300 Quadratmetern großen Traumwohnung in der prachtvollen 'Rue du Cherche-Midi', außer vielleicht die ständigen Hasstiraden ihres egozentrischen Mannes Pierre (Didier Bourdon), der Christine schon lange wie einen Einrichtungsgegenstand behandelt und sich stattdessen lieber den ganzen Tag lang über alle aufregt, die seiner Ansicht nach nicht so ehrbar sind wie er. Zum Beispiel Ausländer, Arbeitslose oder 'Gutmenschen', wie die intellektuelle Nachbarsfamilie Bretzel (Valérie Bonneton und Michel Vuillermoz), deren 'linker Aktionismus' ihm schon lange gegen den Strich geht. Als jedoch Dauerfrost und Minusgrade Frankreich wochenlang einfrieren lassen, haben Christine und Pierre plötzlich ganz andere Probleme. Denn da die Regierung dringend Wohnraum für Obdachlose und finanziell minder bemittelte Bürger finden muss, um sie vor dem Kältetod zu bewahren, beschlagnahmt sie kurzerhand alle Wohnungen, die zu wenige Bewohner aufweisen und teilt ihnen neue, ärmere Mitbewohner zu. Die ungewohnte Situation lässt nicht nur Pierre zu äußerst unkonventionellen - und nicht immer ganz legalen - Mitteln greifen. Nur Madame Christine plagt ihr schlechtes Gewissen. Während alle versuchen, dem Zusammenrücken zu entgehen, handelt sie einfach - und darf sich schon bald über einige unerwartete Gäste freuen...

Dhristine Dubreuil (Karin Viard) and her family belong to the well-heeled Parisian upper class. Nothing disturbs the bourgeois idyll of her almost 300-square-metre dream apartment in the magnificent 'Rue du Cherche-Midi', except perhaps the constant hate tirades of her egocentric husband Pierre (Didier Bourdon), who has long treated Christine like a piece of furniture and instead prefers to spend the whole day getting upset about everyone who, in his opinion, is not as respectable as he is. For example, foreigners, the unemployed or 'do-gooders', such as the intellectual neighboring Bretzel family (Valérie Bonneton and Michel Vuillermoz), whose 'left-wing actionism' has long gone against the grain of him. However, when permafrost and sub-zero temperatures freeze France for weeks, Christine and Pierre suddenly have completely different problems. Because the government urgently needs to find housing for the homeless and financially less well-off citizens in order to save them from dying of cold, it confiscates all apartments that have too few inhabitants and assigns them new, poorer roommates. The unusual situation makes Pierre not only resort to extremely unconventional - and not always completely legal - means. Only Madame Christine is plagued by her guilty conscience. While everyone tries to avoid moving together, she simply acts - and can soon look forward to some unexpected guests...
