Seit dem Abi vor fünf Jahren haben sich die Freundinnen Jo (Rosalie Thomass) und Kati (Anna Maria Sturm) nicht mehr gesehen. Während die eine die Welt bereist und mittlerweile in Indien gelandet ist, schlägt sich die andere mühsam mit den Abschlussprüfungen an der Uni herum. Aber fünf Jahre sind wie weggeblasen, als Kati eines Tages auf ihrem Anrufbeantworter besorgniserregende Nachrichten ihrer besten Freundin abhört. Sofort lässt sie alles stehen und liegen und fährt in ihr Heimatdorf, um die besten Freunde aus der Schulzeit zusammenzutrommeln und Jo in Indien zu suchen. Doch Rocky (Ferdinand Schmidt-Modrow) und Toni (Volker Bruch) sind beide in der Zwischenzeit so gut wie verheiratet und leben ihr eigenes Leben. Entsprechend reagieren sie wenig begeistert. Empört, enttäuscht, aber voller Überzeugung, das einzig Richtige zu tun, macht sich Kati kurzerhand allein auf den Weg zum Ashram, von dem Jo auf ihrer letzten Postkarte geschwärmt hat. Was Kati auf ihrer Suche in Indien nicht ahnt: Jo ist schon längst auf dem Weg nach Hause. Sie platzt in ihr Heimatdorf und wirbelt - wie früher - alles gehörig durcheinander...
Auf Fahrtwind und Freiheit! Mit 'Beste Chance', nach 'Beste Zeit' (2007) und 'Beste Gegend' (2007) der dritte Teil seiner Heimat-Trilogie, schlagen Regisseur Marcus H. Rosenmüller ('Wer früher stirbt, ist länger tot' 2006, 'Schwere Jungs' 2007, 'Sommer in Orange' 2011) und sein Filmteam einmal mehr virtuos und mutig die Brücke zwischen Coming-of-Age- und Heimat-Film. Denn auch wenn die Welt sich immer schneller zu drehen scheint, in der oberbayerischen Gemeinde Tandern geht es nach wie vor darum, dass man füreinander einsteht, herzhaft lacht und streitet, den Fußballverein bei den wichtigsten Vereinssitzungen stört, in Scheunen Bandproben hat und es nichts Wichtigeres gibt als die Freundschaft. Zumindest wenn es um Jo und Kati geht. Ein Film, der wie ein Wiedersehen mit alten Freunden und eine Rückkehr nach Hause wirkt. So hat sich das ganze Dorf auch für den dritten Teil wieder vor der Kamera eingefunden: Rosalie Thomass ('Eine ganz heiße Nummer') und Anna Maria Sturm ('Sommer der Gaukler') sind erneut in die Rollen von Jo und Kati geschlüpft. Und Ferdinand Schmidt-Modrow ('Eine ganz heiße Nummer'), Volker Bruch ('Goethe!', 'Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter') und Florian Brückner ('Räuber Kneissl') sind ebenso wieder mit von der Partie wie auch Heinz-Josef Braun ('Sommer in Orange'), Johanna Bittenbinder ('Was weg is, is weg'), Andreas Giebel ('Räuber Kneissl') und Bettina Redlich ('Liesl Karlstadt und Karl Valentin') als Eltern von Jo und Kati. Der 'Majestic Filmverleih' brachte 'Beste Chance' am 26. Juni 2014 bundesweit in die Kinosäle und anschließend hier übers Verleihprogramm auf DVD ins Heimkino.

Since graduating from high school five years ago, the friends Jo (Rosalie Thomass) and Kati (Anna Maria Sturm) have not seen each other. While one travels the world and has now landed in India, the other struggles with the final exams at university. But five years are blown away when Kati listens to worrying messages from her best friend on her answering machine one day. She immediately drops everything and drives to her home village to round up her best friends from her school days and look for Jo in India. But Rocky (Ferdinand Schmidt-Modrow) and Toni (Volker Bruch) are both as good as married in the meantime and live their own lives. Accordingly, they react less enthusiastically. Outraged, disappointed, but full of conviction that she is doing the only right thing, Kati makes her way alone to the ashram that Jo raved about on her last postcard. What Kati doesn't suspect on her search in India is that Jo has long been on her way home. She bursts into her home village and - as before - whirls everything around...
Here's to the wind and freedom! With 'Best Chance', the third part of his Heimat trilogy after 'Beste Zeit' (2007) and 'Beste gebiet' (2007), director Marcus H. Rosenmüller ('Wer früher stirbt, ist länger tot' 2006, 'Schwere Jungs' 2007, 'Sommer in Orange' 2011) and his film team once again virtuously and courageously bridge the gap between coming-of-age and Heimat-Film. Because even if the world seems to be turning faster and faster, in the Upper Bavarian community of Tandern it is still about standing up for each other, laughing heartily and arguing, disturbing the football club at the most important club meetings, having band rehearsals in barns and there is nothing more important than friendship. At least when it comes to Jo and Kati. A film that seems like a reunion with old friends and a return home. So the whole village has found itself in front of the camera again for the third part: Rosalie Thomass ('A Very Hot Number') and Anna Maria Sturm ('Summer of the Jugglers') have once again slipped into the roles of Jo and Kati. And Ferdinand Schmidt-Modrow ('A Very Hot Number'), Volker Bruch ('Goethe!', 'Our Mothers, Our Fathers') and Florian Brückner ('Räuber Kneissl') are back as well as Heinz-Josef Braun ('Sommer in Orange'), Johanna Bittenbinder ('Was weg is, is weg'), Andreas Giebel ('Räuber Kneissl') and Bettina Redlich ('Liesl Karlstadt und Karl Valentin') as parents of Jo and Kati. The 'Majestic Filmverleih' brought 'Beste Chance' to cinemas nationwide on 26 June 2014 and then to home cinemas here via the distribution programme on DVD.
