Housewife Shashi Godbole (Sridevi) is tired of it. Because she didn't go to university, her husband Satish (Adil Hussain) and the children often have nothing but ridicule for her. Because she finds it difficult to keep up with her family's level of education. When Shashi's niece is getting married, she travels alone to New York. But in the land of unlimited opportunities, you are lost without English skills. Without further ado, she decides to secretly attend a language course. Shashi's English lessons soon turn out to be a lively self-esteem training in which she meets like-minded people from all over the world: a nanny from Mexico, a Pakistani taxi driver, a hairdresser from China. But she is particularly fond of the French chef Laurent (Mehdi Nebbou). And in the end, Shashi learns far more than a few new vocabulary words.
