In love, engaged, married - and divorced. After ten happily separated years from ex-husband Don Griffin (Robert De Niro), Ellie (Diane Keaton) returns to the former family estate to celebrate the wedding of their adopted son Alejandro (Ben Barnes) to Missy (Amanda Seyfried). In order to spare his natural, devout mother Madonna Soto (Patricia Rae) a religious disillusionment, Alejandro asks Don and Ellie to pretend to be married on the occasion of the big holiday. So far, so delicate. Because for this, Don's girlfriend Bebe (Susan Sarandon) has to be moved out for the weekend. Special twist: Bebe was once Ellie's best friend until Don cheated on her with her. The joys and pitfalls of family life have not been brought to the point in such an entertaining and biting way for a long time. Smart, hilarious and with a lot of heart, 'The Big Wedding' leaves no eye dry.
