Eros und Thanatos: Als der junge Filmabsolvent Marko sich voller Ideale und Tatendrang daran macht, das serbische Kino zu revolutionieren, muss er bald feststellen, dass niemand auf ihn gewartet hat. Nach ein paar Werbeclips, die an seinen ausgefallenen Ideen scheitern, heißt es für ihn bald: Endstation Porno. Doch so leicht gibt er nicht auf. Angetrieben von der großen Vision bicht er mit einer bunten Truppe aus Pornodarstellern, Junkies und gescheiterten Schauspielern auf, um mit einem Live-Porno-Cabaret das ländliche Serbien ordentlich aufzumischen. Sex and Drugs and Rock'n'Roll! Doch die Realität siegt über die Ideale. Ohne Geld und nach einigen unerfreulichen Begegnungen mit 'rechtschaffenen Bürgern' stehen sie vor dem Abgrund. Da taucht plötzlich ein Mann auf, faselt etwas von 'Snuff' und macht Marko ein unerhörtes Angebot. Und wenn du lange in einen Abgrund blickst, blickt der Abgrund auch in dich hinein...
Das, womit Mladen Djordjevic in seinem Spielfilmdebüt aufwartet, hat sich das europäische Kino der letzten Jahrzehnte nur sehr selten getraut: Pornografie, Zoophilie, Snuff, explizite Gewalt – alles in einem Film. Was aber noch viel erstaunlicher ist: Ihm ist das Kunststück gelungen, mit diesen Zutaten eben nicht den billigen Exploitation-Schocker abzuliefern, den man vielleicht vermuten würde. Andererseits geht er aber nicht auch nur den geringsten Kompromiss ein, was Wucht und Heftigkeit seines Films angeht. Ganz im Gegenteil: die kurzen aber äußerst heftigen Szenen treffen einen umso mehr, da sie in eine Geschichte eingebettet sind, die sich völlig auf ihre Figuren konzentriert. Dadurch ist Djordjevic trotz aller Drastik ein Film gelungen, der nicht nur erschreckt und provoziert, sondern der gleichzeitig intelligent und witzig, stellenweise sogar äußerst subtil ist – und er verlässt sich dabei voll und ganz auf sein tolles Drehbuch, seine großartigen Darsteller – allen voran Mihajlo Jovanovic als Marko – und auf sein perfektes Gespür für Timing. Denn anstatt sich in minutenlangen Bildexzessen zu ergehen, blendet er immer genau dann ab, wenn der Schlag in die Magengrube des Zuschauers am wirkungsvollsten ist. Es sind die unvermittelten, kurzen, aber gezielten Schläge, die am meisten wehtun.

Eros and Thanatos: When the young film graduate Marko sets out to revolutionize Serbian cinema full of ideals and zest for action, he soon realizes that no one has been waiting for him. After a few commercials that fail because of his unusual ideas, he soon finds it the end of the line porn. But he doesn't give up so easily. Driven by the big vision, he sets out with a colorful troupe of porn actors, junkies and failed actors to shake up rural Serbia with a live porn cabaret. Sex and Drugs and Rock'n'Roll! But reality triumphs over ideals. Without money and after some unpleasant encounters with 'righteous citizens', they are on the brink of the abyss. Suddenly, a man appears, babbles something about 'snuff' and makes Marko an outrageous offer. And if you look into an abyss for a long time, the abyss also looks into you...
What Mladen Djordjevic comes up with in his feature film debut has very rarely dared to be seen in European cinema in recent decades: pornography, zoophilia, snuff, explicit violence – all in one film. But what is even more astonishing is that he has succeeded in the feat of not delivering the cheap exploitation shocker with these ingredients that one might expect. On the other hand, he doesn't make the slightest compromise when it comes to the force and vehemence of his film. Quite the opposite: the short but extremely violent scenes hit you all the more because they are embedded in a story that concentrates completely on its characters. As a result, Djordjevic has succeeded in making a film that not only frightens and provokes, but is at the same time intelligent and funny, at times even extremely subtle – and he relies entirely on his great script, his great actors – especially Mihajlo Jovanovic as Marko – and his perfect sense of timing. Because instead of indulging in minute-long image excesses, he always fades out exactly when the punch in the pit of the viewer's stomach is most effective. It is the sudden, short but targeted blows that hurt the most.
