Gregor Samsa (Oliver Masucci), ein alternder Regisseur Ende 50, ist eigentlich in seinen besten Jahren, mit denen er aber nichts mehr anzufangen weiß. Die Post-Midlife-Crisis und Wohlstandsverwahrlosung greift um sich, Samsa frönt seinem Hedonismus mit Puffbesuchen, Alkoholkonsum und gelangweilten nächtlichen Touren durch die Stadt. Ihm graut vor der Branche, die ihn großgemacht hat. Den Empfang des Deutschen Filmpreises übersteht er nur lästernd und betrunken, das Schaulaufen seiner Kollegen kommentiert er mit bitterbösem Spott. Er verlässt die Party überstürzt und flüchtet sich in ein Antiquariat. Feenhaft und wunderschön taucht hier Grete (Bella Dayne) auf, die er wenig später ausgerechnet im Bordell wiedertrifft und sie zu seiner sinnlich-intellektuellen Muse auserwählt. Am nächsten Tag starten die Dreharbeiten seines neuen Films. Am Set läuft von Anfang an alles schief. Gregor kollidiert mit den arroganten Hauptdarstellern Konstanze (Anne Ratte-Polle) und Fabian Reiter (Elie Kaempfen), die er nicht ausstehen kann, dem Team, das er für unfähig hält, dem eigenmächtigen Regieassistenten (Götz Otto) und dem selbstgefälligen Produzenten (Anton Rattinger), den außer seiner Kohle nichts interessiert. Während ihm in den letzten Stunden vor der ersten Klappe die Dreharbeiten zu entgleiten drohen und der Absturz in den Wahn, bleibt Gregor nur die Flucht nach vorn: zu Grete, zur Liebe. Doch es kommt ganz anders...

Gregor Samsa (Oliver Masucci), an aging director in his late 50s, is actually in his prime, but he doesn't know what to do with them anymore. The post-midlife crisis and affluent neglect are rampant, Samsa indulges his hedonism with puff visits, alcohol consumption and bored nightly tours through the city. He dreads the industry that made him great. He survives the reception of the German Film Award only blaspheming and drunk, and he comments on the parade of his colleagues with bitter mockery. He leaves the party in a hurry and takes refuge in an antiquarian bookshop. Fairy and beautiful, Grete (Bella Dayne) appears here, whom he meets again a little later in the brothel of all places and chooses her as his sensual-intellectual muse. The next day, the shooting of his new film begins. On the set, everything goes wrong from the beginning. Gregor collides with the arrogant leading actors Konstanze (Anne Ratte-Polle) and Fabian Reiter (Elie Kaempfen), whom he can't stand, the team he considers incompetent, the arbitrary assistant director (Götz Otto) and the smug producer (Anton Rattinger), who is interested in nothing but his money. While in the last hours before the first flap the filming threatens to slip away from him and the fall into delusion, Gregor has no choice but to flee forward: to Grete, to love. But things turn out quite differently...
