Der Priester und das Mädchen

In Mariental, the priest Walter Hartwig (Rudolf Prack) takes up his new pastorate. He knows how to make himself unpopular with the noble family around Herr von Gronau (Willy Birgel), and his first encounter with the paralyzed Eva von Gronau (Marianne Hold) is not exactly a happy one. Nevertheless, the two gradually get closer, and Eva's condition improves in his dealings with the understanding clergyman. Her fiancé Stefan von Steinegg (Rudolf Lenz) confronts the priest, who is obliged to be celibate. Walter has fallen in love with the young woman and asks his bishop for a transfer. But then a misfortune seems to be brewing.
