Amphitryon

Amphitryon (Willy Fritsch), captain of the Theban troops, has been fighting against the troops from 'Boeotia' for a long time. In her desperation, his beautiful wife Alkmene (Käthe Gold) prays to Jupiter, the father of the gods on Mount Olympus, to end the war with a victory for the Thebans. Jupiter (also Fritsch) then takes on the form of the general Amphitryon in order to seduce her. He pretends to visit Juno (Adele Sandrock), the wife of the gods, to go for a cure. Mercury (Paul Kemp), who accompanies him, has to transform into the ugly, always drunk Sosias, a servant in the house of Amphitryon. But he also falls in love: with Alkmene's servant Andria (Fita Benkhoff). When the real Amphitryon returns home, there are a number of trials and tribulations. Finally, the wife of the gods, Juno, has to intervene herself and her husband and his companion meekly return to the heaven of the gods.
