Surprisingly good...
at first you have no sympathy with the »Jerk« but after a while you see he is just a victim of his environment...

Old fashioned horror at its best...
This is my type of horror film, spooky lots of scary moments (brilliant editing) a beleivable storyline and open ended. I had to watch a rerun of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno before I could go to bed...

eXistenZ ... 93 minutes of gory, sexy, SciFi enterrainment...
Well I managed to watch the thing all the way through this time. I've seen this film in parts about 6 times but never saw it from beginning to end and never in English.

So DO NOT LEAVE THE ROOM WITHOUT PAUSING

I found Jude Law the perfect innocent boy playing across from Jennifer Jason Leigh's shy but sexy character Allegra Geller (Would Sarah Michelle Geller have been better? not sure). This all changes when the S§&T hits the fan in the first 10 minutes. The film could have been longer and delved more into the virtual worlds and the cameo apperances (small roles for big stars) ditracted rather than enhanced the magic. There was no time to beleieve the characters of Willem DeFoe and Ian Holm. I liked the surreal world mixing seamlessly with the real (Film) world.
I will never order the special in a Chinese restaurant again.

Watch this if you have read or seen Truman Capote...
only if you know his work, or have experienced him in the flesh, documentaries or the talk shows. Only works if you know this to be true...

Great remake of a remake...
It was expected that Chris Rock would be funny in this role, but bringing me to tears with emotion was not on the agenda. Maybe I am depressed and just needed to cry, but the way the relationships and situations go from standup to sit-com to parody to sarcasm and then love story, heart-ache and finally... well watch the film yourself, well recommended.

One for the wife...
my wife rented this one, I liked the story but found the dialog dated (Duh! old film) didn't finish watching but the wife gave it two thumbs up...

Brutal...
this is not Denzel Washinton in his squeeky clean hero role and Ethan Hawke's dirty innocence shines through. Filmed in the real »projects« and using real people as extras, the reality of LA is presented in all its glory. Agian this movie shows how power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutly...

Only watch this if you are British...
This is a fantastic idea (and could be true!) the over the top perfomance of the govenors wife starts out as ham acting but as soon as she meets the »movie star« you see the need for this role. Leonard Rossiter (famous in England from the hit sieries »Rising Damp«) is typecast and Michael Caine does a great job of making this role really believable. Sunday afternoon, rainy day film.

Great effects...
This is an action/love story with great effects. Very good performance by John Hurt playing the prof. Watch out for the hidden jokes...

Sunday atfernoon fantasy...
Great fantasy with a good twist. Very well done special effects and quite believeable characters. Matt Damon is Matt Damon as always but Heath Ledger plays a great »absent minded professor«. Watch out for the trees...

Read the book...
If you just watch the film then I think somthing is missing. You need to read the book first and then the film is OK. It may be better to read the book after and this will explain the film, yes, I think this way is better...

One of my favs
I have seen this film 100,000 times and it is still great. I was in Britain in the 1980's and this film showed us how to »shotgun« the can of beer and how credit cards can open all doors. Fantastic teen acting by John Cusack and a great performance by Daphne Zuniga (who went on to do Spaceballs) and you can never get the picture of Nicolette Sheridan begging »Gib« for just one more time... try to rent »Once Bitten« early teen movie with Jim Carrey I think the German title is »Einmal beißen bitte«. These two films will change you life »so FU@K OFF...«

130 minutes could have been 90...
The story of Pocahontas is well known to my family as we lived in Richmond VA for about 5 years and went to see Jamestown and Williamsburg so the film was like going back. It was way too long and I recommend you just watch the extras. This gives you a more documentary feeling and is about the right length. Pick out the fighting and love scenes if you want then pack it up and send it back...

The extras are a must
Michael Caine in one of his most surprising roles as a French Nazi collaborator on the run. Based on a true event and with the wonderful backdrop of rural France, this makes up for all his »Alfie« films.

Even though the DVD was scratched in places... you could follow
The idea is not new but very well done. The DVD was not the best quality but with the same story being told from many angles allows you to catch up. All the parts were well played and some surprising casting allows you to see behind the Hollyweed typecasting movies. Pen an paper needed to follow the plot.

HUH? Running out of ideas for titles?
The title of this one is proof of the lack of thought that went into probably a great script. The idea and complicated plot are fine and could be explored better in a novel. The screen version including the narration to bring eveyone up to speed spoil an intelligent plot and deep characters. If you are after a bit of fun with blood sex and tears you are OK with this one. Don't watch it with your partner, they will ask all sorts of complicated questions and you will miss somthing.

Hard but good
This is no holds barred, in your face and real. The »Stars« queued up to do this one and I can see why. Racism is really in the mind of the beholder. The twists and turns of this story always seem to end up at the same place. L.A. Crash could be anywhere and probably is...

Not sure...
This is on of those films which either you love or you hate. The characters are believable and the day to day'ness of the film may bore some. But the underlying message searching for something lost and not knowing if you really want to find it is compelling. You will either love or hate the ending...
Bill Murray fans and Sharon Stone fans a must...

Funny version of Night on Earth
Loved the characters in this one. Courtney Love playing herself and Ben Affleck as the nice loooooser. Great cameo from Elvis Costello.

Disgustingly true, I hope not!
If this is based on truth then we should no longer save the planet. We should get rid of the cancer which is humanity. Let the Earth revert to its normal state of either iceball or fireball and see what the next »intelligent« species comes up with.
If you are looking for hardcore action and super heroes then don't rent this film.
Somewhere in the middle is where you need to be, and of course a Nicolas Cage fan (let's go storm his castle)
