at first you have no sympathy with the »Jerk« but after a while you see he is just a victim of his environment...

Old fashioned horror at its best...
This is my type of horror film, spooky lots of scary moments (brilliant editing) a beleivable storyline and open ended. I had to watch a rerun of the Tonight Show with Jay Leno before I could go to bed...

eXistenZ ... 93 minutes of gory, sexy, SciFi enterrainment...
Well I managed to watch the thing all the way through this time. I've seen this film in parts about 6 times but never saw it from beginning to end and never in English.

So DO NOT LEAVE THE ROOM WITHOUT PAUSING

I found Jude Law the perfect innocent boy playing across from Jennifer Jason Leigh's shy but sexy character Allegra Geller (Would Sarah Michelle Geller have been better? not sure). This all changes when the S§&T hits the fan in the first 10 minutes. The film could have been longer and delved more into the virtual worlds and the cameo apperances (small roles for big stars) ditracted rather than enhanced the magic. There was no time to beleieve the characters of Willem DeFoe and Ian Holm. I liked the surreal world mixing seamlessly with the real (Film) world.
I will never order the special in a Chinese restaurant again.

Watch this if you have read or seen Truman Capote...
only if you know his work, or have experienced him in the flesh, documentaries or the talk shows. Only works if you know this to be true...

Great remake of a remake...
It was expected that Chris Rock would be funny in this role, but bringing me to tears with emotion was not on the agenda. Maybe I am depressed and just needed to cry, but the way the relationships and situations go from standup to sit-com to parody to sarcasm and then love story, heart-ache and finally... well watch the film yourself, well recommended.

One for the wife...
my wife rented this one, I liked the story but found the dialog dated (Duh! old film) didn't finish watching but the wife gave it two thumbs up...

Brutal...
this is not Denzel Washinton in his squeeky clean hero role and Ethan Hawke's dirty innocence shines through. Filmed in the real »projects« and using real people as extras, the reality of LA is presented in all its glory. Agian this movie shows how power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutly...

Only watch this if you are British...
This is a fantastic idea (and could be true!) the over the top perfomance of the govenors wife starts out as ham acting but as soon as she meets the »movie star« you see the need for this role. Leonard Rossiter (famous in England from the hit sieries »Rising Damp«) is typecast and Michael Caine does a great job of making this role really believable. Sunday afternoon, rainy day film.

Great effects...
This is an action/love story with great effects. Very good performance by John Hurt playing the prof. Watch out for the hidden jokes...
