Die Kinderkrankenschwester Britta Katting (Stephanie Kellner) kündigt im Stockholmer Krankenhaus, um in den nächsten Wochen ein Medizinstudium aufzunehmen, mit dem Ziel Kinderärztin zu werden. Ihr Freund, der Chirurg Dr. Martin Winter (Martin Gruber), hält nicht viel von diesem Plan. Er sähe es lieber, wenn alles beim Alten bliebe. Zur Ablenkung nimmt ihre Freundin Stine Hamsun (Jana Klinge) Britta mit auf Gut Sommarholm, wo Stine Mitglieder der traditionsbewussten Familie Rosen fotografieren soll. Im Herrenhaus der Familie trifft Britta auf Conrad Rosen (Hendrik Duryn) mit Sohn Benny (Jona Ruggaber) und ist glücklicherweise dabei, als der Junge einen Asthmaanfall erleidet. Durch ihr rasches, professionelles Eingreifen rettet sie dem Jungen das Leben. Conrad bietet daraufhin Britta eine Stelle als Kinderfrau auf Gut Sommarholm an. Zunächst scheint das Angebot verlockend, Benny ist ein wahrer Sonnenschein, und die Bezahlung ist gut. In den nächsten Tagen kommen sich Britta und Conrad näher und verlieben sich ineinander, obwohl beide wissen, dass sie gebunden sind. Aber Britta wird auch Zeuge, als Conrads verschuldeter Bruder Philip (Jens Peter Nünemann) nach Jahren wieder auf dem Gut auftaucht, und erfährt, dass dieser und Conrads Frau Ulrika vor Jahren ein Paar waren und Ulrika Martin nur geheiratet hatte, weil Philip sie damals sitzen ließ. So konnte Ulrika im Wohlstand der Familie Rosen leben, wurde Conrads Frau und Benny wurde geboren. Da Philip nun eine Farm in Argentinien kaufen möchte, bittet er Conrad, ihm seinen Anteil am Erbe vorzeitig auszuzahlen. Bei seinem Besuch trifft er auch Ulrika wieder.

Pediatric nurse Britta Katting (Stephanie Kellner) quits her job at the Stockholm hospital in order to start studying medicine in the next few weeks, with the goal of becoming a pediatrician. Her boyfriend, the surgeon Dr. Martin Winter (Martin Gruber), does not think much of this plan. He would prefer everything to remain the same. As a distraction, her friend Stine Hamsun (Jana Klinge) takes Britta to Gut Sommarholm, where Stine is supposed to photograph members of the tradition-conscious Rosen family. In the family's mansion, Britta meets Conrad Rosen (Hendrik Duryn) with son Benny (Jona Ruggaber) and is fortunately there when the boy suffers an asthma attack. Through her quick, professional intervention, she saves the boy's life. Conrad then offers Britta a job as a nanny at Sommarholm Manor. At first, the offer seems tempting, Benny is a true ray of sunshine, and the pay is good. Over the next few days, Britta and Conrad grow closer and fall in love, even though they both know that they are bound. But Britta also witnesses when Conrad's indebted brother Philip (Jens Peter Nünemann) reappears on the estate after years, and learns that he and Conrad's wife Ulrika were a couple years ago and that Ulrika only married Martin because Philip abandoned her at the time. So Ulrika was able to live in the prosperity of the Rosen family, became Conrad's wife and Benny was born. Since Philip now wants to buy a farm in Argentina, he asks Conrad to pay him his share of the inheritance early. During his visit, he also meets Ulrika again.
