Der junge Inder Karan Shergill (Hritik Roshan) stammt aus einer wohlhabenden Familie und lebt gemütlich in den Tag hinein. Nachdem er die Schule abgeschlossen hat, weiß er nicht so recht, welchen Beruf er erlernen soll und bewirbt sich kurzerhand für eine Offizierslaufbahn bei der Armee. Seine Eltern sind entsetzt, seine Freunde überrascht - war er doch bislang nicht gerade für seinen disziplinierten Lebensstil bekannt. Einzig Karans Freundin Romi (Preity Zinta), eine intelligente und ambitionierte junge Frau, unterstützt ihn bei seinem Vorhaben. Nach einigen herben Rückschlägen, in dessen Zügen auch seine Beziehung zu Romi in die Brüche geht, beendet Karan erfolgreich seine Ausbildung. In den schweren Gefechten, in die Karan im Zuge des Kaschmir-Konfliktes im Himalaya-Hochgebirge verwickelt wird, verliert er einige seiner besten Freunde und auch die Begeisterung für den sinnlosen Krieg. Und muss erfahren, dass er immer noch starke Gefühle für Romi hat, die als TV-Reporterin an der Front arbeitet...
'Lakshya - Mut zur Entscheidung' ist der teuerste indische Film des Jahres 2004 und eine epische Großproduktion, wie sie nur aus Bollywood kommen kann. Die indischen Superstars Hrithik Roshan und Preity Zinta spielen die Hauptrollen in diesem furiosen Genre-Mix aus Liebesfilm, Coming-of-Age-Drama und Antikriegsfilm. Die Musikeinlagen stammen von Ehsaan, Shankar & Loy, die u.a. auch für 'Indian Love Story' verantwortlich waren.

The young Indian Karan Shergill (Hritik Roshan) comes from a wealthy family and lives comfortably for the day. After graduating from school, he doesn't really know which profession to learn and applies for an officer's career in the army. His parents are horrified, his friends surprised - after all, he was not exactly known for his disciplined lifestyle until now. Only Karan's girlfriend Romi (Preity Zinta), an intelligent and ambitious young woman, supports him in his project. After a few bitter setbacks, in the course of which his relationship with Romi also falls apart, Karan successfully completes his training. In the heavy fighting in which Karan is involved in the course of the Kashmir conflict in the Himalayan high mountains, he loses some of his best friends and also his enthusiasm for the senseless war. And he has to learn that he still has strong feelings for Romi, who works as a TV reporter at the front...
'Lakshya - Courage to Decision' is the most expensive Indian film of 2004 and an epic large-scale production that can only come from Bollywood. Indian superstars Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta play the leading roles in this furious genre mix of romance film, coming-of-age drama and anti-war film. The musical interludes are by Ehsaan, Shankar & Loy, who were also responsible for 'Indian Love Story'.
