Hätte die kleine Sakura gewusst, welchen Ärger sie sich auflädt, hätte sie bestimmt die Finger von dem Buch mit dem Titel 'Clow Cards' gelassen, das sie in der Bibliothek ihres Vaters gefunden hatte. In dem Buch befinden sich magische Karten, die den geöffneten Buchdeckel sofort dazu benutzen, sich in alle vier Windrichtungen aus dem Staub zu machen. Gleichzeitig erwacht auch der Wächter der Karten, Kerberos, der eigentlich auf die Karten ein Auge hätte haben sollen - aber selbst Kartenwächter müssen ab und zu ein Nickerchen machen. Kurzum: Die Karten, die mit ihren magischen Kräften imstande sind, große Schäden anzurichten, sind weg und müssen wieder zurück ins Buch. Kerberos fackelt also nicht lange und verleiht Sakura die Kraft, sich in einen Card Clow (eine Kartenfängerin) verwandeln zu können, um die Clow Cards wieder einzufangen. Und damit beginnt für Sakura und ihre Freundin Tomoyo das große Abenteuer, das mit vielen Überraschungen aufwarten wird....
'Die versiegelte Karte': Sakura und ihre Freunde bereiten mit ihrer ganzen Schule das Nadeshiko Fest vor, als das Siegel einer geheimnisvollen dreiundfünfzigsten Karte bricht. Von da an geschehen seltsame Dinge. Pfeiler und Brücken verschwinden spurlos, ebenso wie nach und nach Sakuras Karten! Zunächst hat niemand eine Erklärung dafür. Weisen die Geschehnisse zwar offenbar auf eine Clow Card hin, scheint das doch unmöglich. Schließlich hat Sakura längst alle Karten gefangen! Das Nadeshiko Fest rückt näher und damit der Auftritt des Schultheaters, dem auch Sakura angehört. Als dann am Abend des Festes Sakuras großer Moment gekommen ist, geschieht das Unfassbare: Die Zuschauer verschwinden nacheinander, und den Freunden wird schnell klar, das doch eine Clow Card im Spiel sein muss.

And this is the beginning of the great adventure for Sakura and her friend Tomoyo, which will come up with many surprises....
'The Sealed Card': Sakura and her friends are preparing for the Nadeshiko Festival with their entire school when the seal of a mysterious fifty-third card breaks. From then on, strange things happen. Pillars and bridges disappear without a trace, as do Sakura's cards one by one! At first, no one has an explanation for it. Although the events apparently point to a Clow Card, this seems impossible. After all, Sakura has long since caught all the cards! The Nadeshiko Festival is approaching and with it the performance of the school theater, to which Sakura is a member. When Sakura's big moment comes on the evening of the festival, the unbelievable happens: the spectators disappear one after the other, and the friends quickly realize that there must be a Clow Card in the game.
