"Voyages-Voyages" mach sich von Nordsumatra auf in Richtung Südhalbkugel, überquert dabei den Äquator, trifft auf noch frei lebende Orang Utans in den Regenwäldern am Bohorokfluss und erhält Einlass in den Palast des Sultans von Medan, in dem die Sultansfamilie noch heut lebt.
Auf der Südhalbkugel angekommen tauchen wir gänzlich ein in eine fremde Welt, denn Westsumatra ist Frauenland. Hier leben die Minangkabau, eine matrilineare Gesellschaft, in der jeder materielle Besitz in mütterlicher Linie vererbt wird. Die Menangkabau nehmen deshalb unter den Völkern Indonesiens und in der gesamten Welt eine Sonderstellung ein. "Voyages-Voyages" ist dabei, wenn sie eine ihrer prächtigen Hochzeiten feuern, ist zu Gast bei einem dörflichen Volkstheater inmitten der Highlands von Sumatra und besucht den traditionellen Büffelkampf, der auch bei den Minangkabau Männersache ist.

"Voyages-Voyages" sets off from North Sumatra towards the southern hemisphere, crossing the equator, meeting orangutans still living in the wild in the rainforests along the Bohorok River and gaining admission to the palace of the Sultan of Medan, where the sultan's family still lives today.
Arriving in the southern hemisphere, we are completely immersed in a foreign world, because West Sumatra is women's country. This is where the Minangkabau live, a matrilineal society in which all material possessions are inherited in the maternal line. The Menangkabau therefore occupy a special position among the peoples of Indonesia and in the entire world. "Voyages-Voyages" is there when they fire one of their magnificent weddings, is a guest at a village folk theatre in the middle of the highlands of Sumatra and attends the traditional buffalo fight, which is also a man's affair for the Minangkabau.
