Während in der Presse und online gehetzt wird und man ihre Entlassung fordert, begibt sich Nivedita auf die Suche nach den Motiven für Saraswatis jahrelangen Betrug. Der Kinofilm 'Identitti' (2026) basiert auf dem gleichnamigen Bestsellerroman von Mithu Sanyal aus dem Jahr 2021, der sich mit Fragen kultureller Aneignung, Cancel-Culture, Zugehörigkeit und Identität auseinandersetzt. Regisseurin Randa Chahoud ('Deutschland 89') und Drehbuchautorin Friederike Jehn gelingt mit klugem Humor, junger Bildsprache und pointierten Dialogen ein brisanter und erfrischend zeitgemäßer Film - eine Tour de Force, die noch lange nachwirkt. Der fast vollständig weiblich besetzte Cast umfasst u.a. Sabrina Setlur, Deutschlands erster weiblicher Rap-Star mit über 2 Millionen verkauften Tonträgern, die hier ihr Leinwanddebüt gibt. The feature film 'Identitti' (2026) is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Mithu Sanyal from 2021, which deals with questions of cultural appropriation, cancel culture, belonging and identity. Director Randa Chahoud ('Deutschland 89') and screenwriter Friederike Jehn succeed in creating an explosive and refreshingly contemporary film with clever humour, young imagery and pointed dialogues - a tour de force that will have a long lasting effect. The almost entirely female cast includes Sabrina Setlur, Germany's first female rap star with over 2 million records sold, who makes her screen debut here. The look and rhythm of the film are congenially created by a top-class crew, including choreographer Constanza Macras ('Poor Things', 'The Favourite'), production designer Juliane Friedrich ('Oh Boy'), costume designer Frauke Firl ('Antichrist') and editor Andrew Bird ('Amrum', 'The Seed of the Sacred Fig Tree'). The film was produced by the Berlin-based production company 'Razor Film', and the nationwide theatrical release in Germany will take place on November 12, 2026.
