Harvey Rabbits zügelloser Fantasy-Film 'Captain Faggotron Saves the Universe' (2023) über die Angst vor einem queeren Planeten ist ein rauschendes Fest für Fans von Trash und Camp. Ein kiffender Jesus, verspielte Aliens und dämonische Furries - selten war der Weg zur Selbstakzeptanz so hilariously queer wie hier. Regisseur Rabbit (er/sein; Regie, Buch, Produktion) ist trans Künstler und hat Dramaturgie und Experimentelles Theater am 'New College of California' studiert. Seine aktivistische Arbeit für die Rechte von 'LGBTQIA' und Sexarbeiter:innen reicht bis in die Mitte der 90er Jahre zurück, als er auf die Bühnen Nordkaliforniens stürmte und dort über Feminismus, Queerness und Empowerment sprach. Seine One-Woman-Show 'Madge's Box' wurde für das San-Francisco-Fringe-Festival 2008 ausgewählt. Von 2013 bis 2015 produzierte, kuratierte und moderierte er das 'Varieté Ridiculous', ein politisches Kabarett in Berlin, das sich thematisch vor allem mit den Rechten von Sexarbeiter:innen auseinandersetzte. 2016 wurde sein erster Kurzfilm 'Slowdance', ein Film noir über Homophobie und schwule Liebe, auf dem Berlin-Porn-Film-Festival uraufgeführt und später auf queeren Filmfestivals in Europa, Süd- und Mittelamerika sowie den USA gezeigt. 2017 produzierte er 'We Are the Fucking World', einen Kurzfilm für Erika Lust. 'The Chemo Darkroom' (2018) wurde für den Kurzfilmwettbewerb des Berlin-Porn-Film-Festivals, der Berlin-Feminist-Film-Week, des IKFF-Hamburg und des Hacker-Porn-Film-Festivals in Rom ausgewählt. Harvey Rabbit's rampant fantasy film 'Captain Faggotron Saves the Universe' (2023) about the fear of a queer planet is a raucous feast for fans of trash and camp. A pot-smoking Jesus, playful aliens and demonic furries - rarely has the path to self-acceptance been as hilariously queer as here. Director Rabbit (he/his; Director, Writer, Production) is a trans artist and studied dramaturgy and experimental theater at the New College of California. His activist work for LGBTQIA rights and sex workers dates back to the mid-90s, when he stormed onto the stages of Northern California and spoke about feminism, queerness, and empowerment. His one-woman show 'Madge's Box' was selected for the San Francisco Fringe Festival in 2008. From 2013 to 2015, he produced, curated and hosted the 'Varieté Ridiculous', a political cabaret in Berlin that thematically dealt primarily with the rights of sex workers. In 2016, his first short film 'Slowdance', a film noir about homophobia and gay love, premiered at the Berlin Porn Film Festival and was later shown at queer film festivals in Europe, South and Central America and the USA. In 2017, he produced 'We Are the Fucking World', a short film for Erika Lust.
