Sie flüchtet in den Schlossturm und sticht sich an einer Spindel. Sie fällt in einen hundertjährigen Schlaf. Viele Jahre später entdeckt Prinz Johann ein Bildnis der Prinzessin, das seinem Großvater Wilhelm gehört, und beschließt, sie vom bösen Fluch zu erlösen. Unerschrocken kämpft er sich durch die dornigen Hindernisse bis ins Schloss vor und weckt die Prinzessin mit einem Kuss. Der ganze Hofstaat feiert voller Freude die alles überwindende Macht wahrer Liebe und eine wunderschöne Hochzeit.
