Der große Saal, die rauschenden Farben, das Rattern des Filmprojektors - die erste Kinoerfahrung ist eine ganz besondere. Auch die Welt von Samay (Bhavin Rabari), der mit seiner Familie in einem kleinen Dorf in Indien lebt, wird auf den Kopf gestellt, als er von seinem Vater (Dipen Raval) zum ersten Mal in das örtliche Kino mitgenommen wird. Danach ist er sich sicher: Er möchte Filme machen. Ein glücklicher Zufall lässt ihn auf den Filmvorführer Fazal (Bhavesh Shrimali) treffen, der von den Kochkünsten von Samays Mutter (Richa Meena) begeistert ist und ihn im Austausch gegen den Inhalt seiner Lunchbox kostenlos Filme schauen lässt. Kurzerhand beginnt Samay die Schule zu schwänzen und seine Zeit lieber im Projektionsraum des Kinos zu verbringen. Hier taucht er Tag für Tag in fantastische Welten ein. Doch die Idylle droht ein jähes Ende zu finden. Die Ära des Zelluloids neigt sich ihrem Ende zu und dem örtlichen Kino droht die Schließung. Samays Vater ist außerdem nicht begeistert von den Plänen seines Sohnes, Licht einzufangen und Bilder in Bewegung zu setzen. Um seinen Traum zu verwirklichen, muss Samay die Rettung des Kinos selbst in die Hand nehmen - denn seine Geschichte besteht darauf, erzählt zu werden...

The large hall, the rustling colours, the rattling of the film projector - the first cinema experience is a very special one. The world of Samay (Bhavin Rabari), who lives with his family in a small village in India, is also turned upside down when he is taken to the local cinema for the first time by his father (Dipen Raval).
