Dublin, 1979. Hier lebt Maeve Brennan (Ailish McCarthy). Sie ist 13 und trägt seit kurzem einen schneeweißen BH. Körbchengrößen und BHs sind im Augenblick ihr großes Thema. Ihre Freundinnen Ruth (Sophie Jo Wasson) und Orla (Orla Long) tragen auch schon einen, nur Claire (Riona Smith) nicht, denn sie ist eine überzeugte Feministin. Außerdem hatten Maeves Freundinnen alle auch schon einen Freund, das beschäftigt Maeve fast genauso. Darum braucht sie jetzt erst einmal jemanden zum Küssenlernen. Und dann gelingt Maeve, was ihr niemand zugetraut hätte: Brian (Shane McDaid), der Herzensbrecher, geht mit ihr aus. Allerdings lässt sie dafür ihre Freundinnen im Stich, gerade als die sie besonders brauchen. Zum Ärger mit Ruth, Orla und Claire kommt die Enttäuschung über ihren neuen Freund. Der lässt Maeve nach dem ersten Tanz einfach stehen und haut mit einem anderen Mädchen ab. Dass ihre Eltern hinter die ganze Sache kommen, macht es nicht einfacher. Zu guter Letzt übersteht der neue BH noch nicht einmal seine erste Wäsche. Der BH hinüber, der Freund ein Schuft - als Ruth, Orla und Claire ihr trotz allem zum 14. Geburtstag gratulieren, besinnt Maeve sich eines Besseren: Sie ist nicht nur ein bisschen älter, sondern auch ein bisschen klüger geworden.

Dublin, 1979. This is where Maeve Brennan (Ailish McCarthy) lives. She is 13 and has recently started wearing a snow-white bra. Cup sizes and bras are her big topic at the moment. Her friends Ruth (Sophie Jo Wasson) and Orla (Orla Long) already wear one, except Claire (Riona Smith), because she is a convinced feminist. In addition, Maeve's friends all had a boyfriend, which concerns Maeve almost as much. That's why she needs someone to learn to kiss now. And then Maeve succeeds in doing what no one would have thought she could do: Brian (Shane McDaid), the heartbreaker, goes out with her. The bra gone, the boyfriend a scoundrel - when Ruth, Orla and Claire congratulate her on her 14th birthday despite everything, Maeve thinks better: She is not only a little older, but also a little wiser.
