'It's about Luis' (2024) is the second feature film by writer and director Lucia Chiarla (after 'Journey to Jerusalem' in 2018). The powerful family drama, based on the play 'El pequeño poni' by Paco Bezerra, tells the story of a couple struggling with the challenges of modern family life. Max Riemelt and Natalia Rudziewicz shine in the leading roles as a permanently stressed married couple who juggle between career and family life. When their ten-year-old son Luis is bullied at school because of his purple unicorn backpack, the parents get into a conflict over social norms and the protection of their child. Chiarla staged most of the action in the cramped space of a taxi, which becomes a conflict zone for the parents, vividly and with subtle humour. This innovative approach creates an intense atmosphere that draws viewers into the emotional turmoil of the family. 'It's about Luis' is a moving examination of topics such as identity, bullying and parental responsibility. The film celebrated its world premiere at the Zurich Film Festival 2024 and was nominated for the 'Golden Eye' for best international film, as well as being invited to the international competition 'Progressive Cinema' at the 'Festa del Cinema di Roma', where it won the 'Sorriso Diverso Award'.
