Nach einem brutalen Angriffskrieg durch Zol auf Akhafa verbreitete sich plötzlich eine mysteriöse Krankheit, das schwarze Wolfsfieber, und beendete den Krieg schlagartig. Doch viele Jahre darauf wollen Rebellen aus Akhafa die tödliche Krankheit mithilfe von wilden Hunden, die den Virus in sich tragen, weiter ins Land verbreiten. Währenddessen bemüht sich Van Gansa (deutsch gesprochen von David Nathan) um ein besseres Leben mit der jungen Waise Yuna. Dennoch ist das ersehnte einfache Leben noch fern. Böse Mächte verfolgen die Zwei, denn Van hat den Biss eines infizierten Tieres überlebt und scheint gegen das Fieber resistent zu sein. Sae (deutsch Rubina Nath), eine Assassine der Rebellen, und der Arzt Hossal Yugrául (Markus J. Bachmann) versuchen Van zu finden. Während Hossal mithilfe von Vans Blut ein Gegenmittel herzustellen versucht, will Sae genau das verhindern. Werden Van und Yuna es schaffen, der Gefahr zu entkommen?
Eine tödliche Seuche breitet sich aus und Van und die junge Yuna geraten in einen Strudel voller Gefahren und Intrigen: 'The Deer King' (2021), das preisgekrönte Animationsepos vom legendären Studio 'Production I.G' (siehe u.a. 'Ghost in the Shell', 'Haikkyu!', 'Kuroko's Basketball', 'Psycho-Pass') und den Top-Regisseuren Masashi Ando ('Prinzessing Mononoke', 'Your Name.') und Masayuki Miyaji ('Chihiros Reise ins Zauberland', 'Attack on Titan'). Nach langem Warten kommt der auf dem Fantasia-Filmfestival mit dem 'Bronze Audience Award for Best Animated Film' ausgezeichnete Anime auch nach Deutschland.

After a brutal war of aggression by Zol on Akhafa, a mysterious disease, black wolf fever, suddenly spread and ended the war abruptly. But many years later, rebels from Akhafa want to spread the deadly disease further into the country with the help of wild dogs that carry the virus. Meanwhile, Van Gansa (voiced in German by David Nathan) strives for a better life with the young orphan Yuna. Nevertheless, the longed-for simple life is still far away. Evil forces pursue the two, because Van has survived the bite of an infected animal and seems to be resistant to the fever. Sae (German Rubina Nath), an assassin of the rebels, and the doctor Hossal Yugrául (Markus J. Bachmann) try to find Van. While Hossal tries to create an antidote with the help of Van's blood, Sae wants to prevent exactly that. Will Van and Yuna manage to escape the danger?
A deadly plague spreads and Van and young Yuna get caught up in a maelstrom of danger and intrigue: 'The Deer King' (2021), the award-winning animated epic from legendary studio 'Production I.G' (see 'Ghost in the Shell', 'Haikkyu!', 'Kuroko's Basketball', 'Psycho-Pass', among others) and top directors Masashi Ando ('Princess Mononoke', 'Your Name.') and Masayuki Miyaji ('Chihiro's Journey to Enchanted Land', 'Attack on Titan'). After a long wait, the anime, which won the 'Bronze Audience Award for Best Animated Film' at the Fantasia Film Festival, is also coming to Germany.
