Das Abschiedsessen eines jungen Paares mündet in einen emotionalen Crash, der Ängste, Begierden und Lebenslügen aufdeckt: Es ist Sommer, kurz nach dem Lockdown. Ein junges Paar möchte von Hannover nach Berlin ziehen und veranstaltet ein Abschiedsessen in der schon fast leer geräumten Wohnung. Lisa (Pauline Werner) ist eine ambitionierte angehende Assistenzärztin, Clemens (Sebastian Jakob Doppelbauer) ein talentierter, aber erfolgloser und von Selbstzweifeln gequälter Musiker. Sie wollen einen schönen letzten Abend in vertrauter Runde verbringen, doch als einige ihrer besten Freunde kurzfristig absagen und plötzlich ungeladene Gäste auftauchen, gerät die Dinnerparty nach und nach außer Kontrolle. Aus Smalltalk werden Vorwürfe, Gesellschaftsspiele entgleisen und Konkurrenzkämpfe eskalieren. Immer mehr steuert der Abend auf einen emotionalen Crash zu, der Ängste, Sehnsüchte und Lebenslügen freilegt...
'Letzter Abend' (2023) von Regisseur Lukas Nathrath erhielt diverse Auszeichnungen wie beim Locarno-Filmfestival 2022 den 'First Look Award', den Max-Ophüls-Preis 2023 für die beste Regie, beim International-Filmfestival in Rotterdam 2023 eine 'Tiger Award Nomination' und auf dem Internationalen Filmfest Emden-Norderney 2023 den 'Creative Energy Award'. The farewell dinner of a young couple ends in an emotional crash that exposes fears, desires and lies about life: It is summer, shortly after the lockdown. A young couple wants to move from Hanover to Berlin and organizes a farewell dinner in the almost empty apartment. Lisa (Pauline Werner) is an ambitious aspiring assistant doctor, Clemens (Sebastian Jakob Doppelbauer) a talented but unsuccessful musician tormented by self-doubt. They want to spend a nice last evening in familiar company, but when some of their best friends cancel at short notice and uninvited guests suddenly appear, the dinner party gradually gets out of control. Small talk turns into accusations, parlour games derail and competitive struggles escalate. More and more, the evening is heading for an emotional crash that exposes fears, longings and life's lies...
'Last Evening' (2023) by director Lukas Nathrath received various awards such as the 'First Look Award' at the 2022 Locarno Film Festival, the 2023 Max Ophüls Prize for Best Director, a 'Tiger Award Nomination' at the 2023 Rotterdam International Film Festival and the 'Creative Energy Award' at the 2023 Emden-Norderney International Film Festival. The nationwide German theatrical release took place on August 24, 2023.
