Jackson erneut in die Fußstapfen von Richard Roundtrees klassischem siebziger Jahre Blaxploitation-Cop John Shaft, der diesmal seinem Sprössling Shaft Jr. (Jessie T. Usher), einem Cyber-Sicherheitsbeauftragten, zur Hilfe eilen muss, um den Mord an dessen bestem Freund aufzuklären, im Shaft-Reboot 'Son of Shaft' (2019) unter der Regie von Tim Story (siehe die 2000er 'Fantastic Four' Remakes und Ice Cubes 'Ride Along' 1 und 2).
